DIY coil wire recommendations

I have started to make my own, I have a few spools of coilology to be going on with.

I know, the types I like for flavour, and what I don't (tri core fused Clapton etc), I know the width of wire I want, ohms per foot, etc to build coils I want to suit the atties I have etc etc, but that said any reading material is good.

But what are peoples recommendations for which brands are good, overpriced, crap etc? Most of the vaping sites seem to be just single round wire in various gauge. What I want seems to be a bit more specialist

https://www.steam-engine.org/wirewiz That's all you need, wire, go for steathvape and crazy wire co. Most of the rest are overprice bollox. Never bought premade coils, don't see the point in it and juice like my wire I don't buy wire from random places like china.

Crazy wire company I came across tonight while searching about, had plenty to look at. So they are recommended which is good
Stealth vape also had a look, but couldn't find the sort of thing I am after, but could just be me or my use of the site.

I am assuming you would also rule out any amazon seller and eBay unless they also had a genuine uk site as well

Stealth Vape is the wire I’ve used for years that and a wire company I’ve forgot the name but will look and respond once I’ve found it

Jag Hilly Trading (also sell on eBay under the listing 'The Cool Vaper') do some decent Ni80 fused Clapton wires in different lengths so they may be worth checking out.

I generally buy Ni80 wires using an ohms per foot estimate for mech use and have found -

3-28 core is around 1.65 ohms per foot = 0.17ish for dual 5 wrap 3mm i.d. build
2-26 1.50 = 0.15 dual
4-28 1.3 = 0.13 to 0.14 dual
3-26 1.0 = 0.11 dual (too much for me) - 0.21 - 0.22 single

Generally I stick with dual 26 core as I find 0.15 good for 4.2V mechs and not too threatening, but triple 28 works out at the same resistance if you reduce the i.d. to 2.5mm - however I like 24 to 25mm RDAs with some restriction as oversized atties with airflow you can turn a bus in - if you're into 28 to 30mm atties then dual 26/triple 28 core will probably be a bit tame...

For 8.4V series I just buy single core 24ga clapton spools of KA1 and build twin 8 wrap 3mm i.d. coils that come out around 0.45 a pair which is about as low as I go (and it's still a tad too toasty for me with freshly charged batteries lol).

What resistance are you aiming for?

This evenings build is this, with this
On asgard mini, or steam crave v2 (pictured), the 0.13 is about perfect / a touch on the tame side of perfect (so close) tbh would prefer to spread the legs a bit more and do 6 wraps instead of 5, so may drop the I'd down to 2.5 from 3.

Series is a work in progress in terms of what I want resistance wise, I have some nichrome 80 for that as i need more resistance than I would get from effectively doubling the length of wire

I think something like 3 ohm per metre for 4.2 v and 5 ohm per metre for 8.4 (a 10 -12 wrap which is maybe 6 inch of wire)

@Crispycritters

On the 8.4 series

Do you mean you wrap 2 strands of wire simultaneously ? Like this

You after spools of like pre-made fused Clapton's etc? If so Wotofo do some which are pretty good, better than the coilology ones. If you're making your own coils then stealthvape as previously mentioned, places like vapestream sometimes have deals on big spools of twisted messes etc too.
Get vapetool pro if you have an android, so nice to have all your builds saved on your phone. :)

No bud - I meant a pair of coils, but I didn't explain it particularly clearly.

Generally to get the same wattage vape for series you have to quadruple the resistance of the coils in a 4.2V mech so if your ideal resistance you aim for is 0.12 you should be looking in the 0.45 to 0.50 ballpark, but if you're using a larger atomiser maybe going a little under 4X your ideal 4.2V resistance is the way to go because of the increased airflow.

I tried a pair of 8 wrap dual 28 core Ni80 claptons with 3.5mm i.d. in a 28mm Sherman RDA that came out at 0.44 Ohms. That worked well for me (it was a bit on the toasty side lol, but not silly hot) however, it may be a bit too bulky for the Asgard Mini, but should be good for the Steamcrave V2 (if it's a 30mm atty)

No not yet, and maybe won't if I can get wire that is up to it, which seems to be the case
Yes, though multi core clapton, staple etc seems to be what I enjoy, less keen on alien, juggernaut, twisted etc
