What's new

Could you help with my new setup? Not sure what's best for my needs..

I have 20a batteries in the single mods (50w so in spec?) but as I rarely go above 30w there shouldn't be an issue, except mod failure or user error.
To be honest I think your more than knowledgeable & sensible to put yourself at risk. If, as you say, you want to vape around 1ohm then any mod between 50 & 100w will be more than sufficient. Pick a good model, get opinions on here, look at what type of attie you want for your style & enjoy the (sometimes frustrating) art of coiling & wicking & satisfaction when you get it right.
As you've guessed the Pico is well thought of & paired with something like a serpent mini seems a good match. Just seen a thread about the serpent & the majority seem to use it around 1ohm going down to about 0.5ohm at only 35w.
Be confident in your knowledge of battery safety, it's 99% more than some of the new users asking questions, but don't get too hung up on whats, ifs & maybes. Get some kit your happy with & enjoy.

Thanks dude :) I still don't know if I'm right or what. All I know is that I've done a load of reading recently and I'm pretty much just repeating it here. I've actually just been reading some tests by someone called Mooch on another forum, and they're saying that we don't do continual discharges when we vape, we just pulse. So that kinda throws a spanner into the works again. But it is nice to see that Samsung 25R's can apparently handle 30A continuous discharge, even if it does shorten their lifespan. Sometimes, the more you learn about something, the more you reailse you don't know. I'm kinda feeling that right now. Numbers and stats aside - some batteries just seem to have a great reputation, so maybe I've just gotta go with a set, keep my watts low enough and pray my mod doesn't fail :P

Btw, the Kanger toptank mini was most suggested in this thread, so I'm probably going with that I guess. I just hope it's not one that leaks onto the battery terminals like some tanks. I better look into that actually... I'll be using the premade 1.2 ohm coils to start with, and then I'll look into playing with 0.5 ohm coils and also trying to build my own ones. Exciting stuff :) I'm enjoying having a bit of a geek out learning about all this electronics stuff too, even if it is stressful at times haha..

Yeah don't end up over analysing it. As I said you come across as well clued up on the safety aspect which is number 1 but don't let the numbers put you off.
I use the older subtank for the daily vaping, RBA deck with.5ohm coils between 25 & 30w & no issues. Not used the Toptank version but seen that some have had issues.
Just keep asking questions if you're not sure on anything, always great advice on here.

Yeh dude. I'm getting a bit obsessed with my battery research right now lol! I probably need to stop it :P Anyway, Samsung 25R's really do seem like they are the ones to get if you want 18650s, so I'll just grab a set. And yeh, this forum is pretty damn good. I've spent many of my research hours going through threads on here!

So what are the issues you've heard of with the toptank mini?

Edit: I ordered my gear and liquid. Now I can relax :)

My setup:

Toptank Mini
istick Pico
Samsung 25R batteries
Xtar VC4 charger

As before - thankyou everyone. I really do appreciate the kindness. I have no doubt I'll be going on more missions regarding battery specs and safety. So hopefully I'll be able to help some people out around here with that. I'll try and make sure I'm more clear on it all before giving solid advice though. Don't wanna accidentally misinform anyone :)

@death main issues have been inconsistent stock coil quality & leaking, usually user not seating parts securely. I know @MrDJ had issues with stock coils, not sure if sorted now. I like the subtanks, use them for the work mod & apart from occasionally not putting the RBA back together properly, no issues. Left stock coils behind ages ago.

ive got the original subtank mini (toptank mini is the replacement).
what i had problems with was the newer occ coils wich were naff compared to the originals. tried the ssocc as well and didnt like them much either. luckily bought 20 of the original coils of a member and am happy now as a pig in shit as coils are lasting me a good month again unlike the newer ones that i was lucky if i got 2 weeks out off.

Fuuny you guys say that. I was reading reviews of the coils on the Kanger website and stuff about the toptank on their forums. Kinda confirms what you're both saying lol. I already bought them now so I'll just pray for the best :P I've always got the Melo tank that comes with my pico as a spare should I need it. And to be honest - I'd be happy getting even a week out of a coil. I'm used to getting 2 days out of them from my Nautilus with 1.6 ohm haha.. Cheers guys.
