When doesn't a worst case scenario look grim?

Imagine living your life like that., i'd like to ride/drive to the next town but the worst case scenario would be having a serious collision and dying.

My preparations are that I have an MOT, I have a well maintained bike/car, I'll be as careful as I can and there's an ambulance and a hospital if I needed it. .... that doesn't mean I'm expecting to crash and end up in hospital.

... or I could just stay home scared.
