Hi,

I am using it in temp mode and noticed my cotton burns at anything over 360f, I first thought it must be the type of cotton i am using (japanese) but after watching a few youtube vids, I am yet to find any cotton that burns under 450f, so I must be doing something wrong here? any ideas?

Is it a micro coil or a gapped coil. I think it's recommended not to run a microcoil with temp monitoring

Sent from my iPad using Planet of the Vapes

I used 28g, the wraps had gaps, I squashed it together and let the coil spring back with gaps in it

What atty is it? How many wraps around what sized bit? What Ohms did it come out at? Was the atty and the mod cool when new coil was set?

This sounds like false temperature readings due to incorrect setting of the New / Same coil option.

Let everything cool down and then disconnect the atty, push the fire button then reconnect the atty and fire again, that should set the correct temperature and you should find that settings below 420 will be fine.

I personally tested the temp control with dry muji cotton and can tell you that 410f is the highest you can go before the cotton starts to scorch at 420f dry firing with cotton will result in very slight browning of the cotton.

Microcoils can be used and can have the wraps squeezed together in the traditional microcoil style, in fact I'm running two heron's with twisted 0.25mm Tempered NI200 in exactly that configuration and they are working fine and have been for 24 Hours...

its on a magma RDA clone, i did 9 wraps with 28g, around a screw driver which I think is 2.5mm and it came in at .18ohm which is nothing like that steampunk says! steampunk says i should need about 16 wraps.

I will try a different RDA and see if the issue is with my magma or the device (though seems it might be the RDA as my ohm checker gives around the same resistence)

Thing is, how can a RDA give lower resistence? shouldnt higher if I had a problem with connections?

I've dry fired my kayfun 4 (with spring update) at 450°F and it didn't scotch the cotton at all.
