Thanks mates for your time and advice.
I can cope with the cost of new coils on a regular basis, like I 've mentioned earlier in this post I just wanted to try out 25 different ( about 3ml) flavours that I was given without having to throw away a coil each time I tasted a few puffs. Just as a basic sampler to get some preference sorted out.
RDA etc. is on my wish list for the near future, I am sure I will enjoy the experience, but if I can clean 'fairly' good the same coil it would be ideal for now. So maybe 50/50 pure vg/pg used for burning off the best part of the previous flavour would do me for now? .
As has been said, an RDA would be ideal for you. If you're not sure you want all the bother of fully rebuildable drippers, check out a FocusEcigs Wanko. The premade coils press fit just like putting a fuse into a plug
. All you then need to do is rinse and dry between flavours and quickly put in some fresh cotton wick
. You can rinse, dry and have one rewicked far faster and easier than the time and effort it takes to clean a used premade coil head I promise you
. Incredibly easy to fit coils and wicking is very easy too. Single coil and ideal for low wattage MTL vaping too with the 1 ohm coils
. They're a great little dripper, tons of flavour and vapour and just so easy to use
.
Otherwise before I used drippers and was testing as you are now, generally if the next flavour you're going to try is similar to the flavour you're currently trialling, (example, you're trying strawberry milkshake and raspberry jam or something similar is next), don't worry about cleaning the coil heads. Just disassemble and rinse the clearo out, wipe the coil head dry externally and put the coil head straight back in and the new flavour will push the old flavour out in just a few puffs
. You'll get a slight mix of the two for the first few puffs, but by 10 puffs, the old flavour remaining in the cotton is completely diluted and pushed out and you'll just get the new flavour
. Try to test the flavours in an order that allows you to keep on using the coil without even needing to clean it and you won't need to worry about cleaning them each time
. Sometimes it's unavoidable if you have a flavour that's completely different to all of the others, but you don't need to clean the coil heads every single time if you test in a certain order
. Using some flavourless as has been previously mentioned is also a good idea too. Same concept
.
I only reuse and clean partially used coils that have been used for circumstances of testing flavours or that I know had very low use. Don't bother trying to reuse coils that have see a lot of use, burnt out or lost all flavour. DON'T use Isopropyl for cleaning stock coils, use Vodka bud
. Vodka is almost tasteless, it easily breaks down liquids from the cotton to flush them out and it doesn't leave nasty trace flavours behind. Use Isopropyl, you may get it all evaporated away, but it will taint your cotton as Isopropyl is seriously over powering and it can leave behind a distinctive and unpleasant odour and taste in your cotton and your vapour.
Once you've soaked the heads in Vodka for 30 mins, run coils under hot tap or briefly soak in hot water. Once done, immediately wrap coil heads up in a tea towel or kitchen roll and blow through the coils as hard as you possibly can 5 or 6 times to purge as much moisture from the cotton as quickly as possible. The longer they take to dry, the more they'll taste like arse
. The faster they can be dried, the better they'll be later on. Drying them rapidly on radiators etc however, not a good idea!! Ever noticed how clothes dried indoors or on a radiator etc lose their softness and become crisp?? Same thing happens to the cotton inside coil heads. Blow through them to purge the majority of moisture, then dry the rest in a warm place
.
Don't bother trying to put stock coils in an ultrasonic cleaner, it literally destroys the cotton and rips it apart. Most of the cotton ends up floating around on the surface lol
.
Hope that's of some further help
