Dvarw MTL wicking

If you can get the wick to be more like an M with the middle of the M being the coil

The second photo the deck looks flooded, looks like a fair bit of liquid in there. imo needs more wick.

The photos don’t look to me as if it needs rewicked, though. It looks like the first one you’ve fanned it and the second one you’ve done the way I do it. Which seemed to work better, did you find?

I take a strip of the Muji pad and clip the edge so I create a point. I always remove the top and bottom layer and put it in sideways so when it is cut off at the length of the base it is easy to fan out and use my pointy dentist tool to remove the thicker inserts in the cotton (I don’t do that every time).
I fold them in an M shape and make sure the wickends aren’t pressed down.
I even poke with my tool to make sure the wick doesn’t block the holes.
My preferred coils are 3mm and I use the round hole collar and 1mm inserts.
I always use contact coils, haven’t tried spaced yet.

On the picture I think the wick is too thin and short.

I don’t understand the rationale behind fanning it. There are only two small holes, so what is the benefit of fanning the wick wider than the liquid holes?

I try not to fluff it at all, put the wick through the coil, stick the chimney on, cut it flush then just tuck the ends in so a little bit protrudes through the holes. Just a strip of cotton connecting the two holes with the coil in the centre. It seems to work perfectly.
