Electric Kettle Vaping

here are some tables from steam engine. the first one shows the resistance factor per temperature for ni80, and the second one for ni200.

And are you aware of any mod that can work with those differences? Or are you suggesting the OP is in fact using Wattage as suspected?

Cheers mate, I`m sure that`ll come in useful when I get past the ifs, ands and buts onto the whys and wherefors, but atm I`m just reading up and feeling my way.
Something you may be able to help me with, I`ve got a reel of ss 316L clapton wire it says 28g but doesn`t give the clapton wrap gauge, it`s from Crazywire, do you reckon that would be ok for once I`m confident enough to start building?

Definitely my mod is set on TC-Ni mode and not wattage.

That being said, at this pont I still know too little about temp control to know exactly what mathematical gymnastics my mod is doing to produce the result I'm getting.

i’ve not really used TC for ages, but the simple 316L clapton wire should work ok. i’ve used it before. but best with just plain round wire, i reckon.

If there is one thing I’ve learned about vaping it is that the number one thing that matters above all else is what comes through the drip tip.

There are so many different factors and technical things to consider about our mods, batteries, juices, coils and the rest. Most of the time you’ll get the best result by buying the best products and following all the best advice and following the script exactly according to the manual. At other times you just get that bit of luck and stumble onto the things that get you there. Undoubtedly @John R is right and I’m just lucky my mod is doing what I want it to.

My logic is that the thing I’m inhaling is vapourised juice and all I want is the best possible flavour and just the right amount of nicotine.

Everything else is of secondary importance, like white noise, and sometimes I think there is a danger we end up putting the cart before the horse.

At the moment my vape is just so good it feels like the only way is down.

That’s why I’m so reluctant to change anything. I’m a great believer in the phrase “don’t fix wot ain’t broke”.

As a bit of an update on my little experiment with my new coil build I’m now back on vaping it with the Ni80 coil on wattage mode.

For a start I owe my thanks to @John R for correcting my error in thinking Ni80 was suitable for TC. Although I was able to get the temp to go up and down it was badly unreliable so I gave up on that idea.

I then had a go with winding some SS316 coils in TC but the flavour went off much too quickly for my liking. I was only getting 2 or 3 tanks out of a build before the flavour started dropping off a cliff. For me if I can’t get at least 10 to 15 tanks out of a build before it needs changing I’m not happy at all.

I’ve decided to stick with doing 5 wraps with the Ni80 Framed Staple wire to make a single 4mm coil and spacing the wraps as much as I can. I’m getting brilliant moist dense flavour, no chance of a dry hit and my builds are lasting so much better with this setup.

I know I’ll never get the constant peak flavour quality I’d get from a dripper but for me this build in my Blotto tanks is performing brilliantly for an RTA which suits me just fine.

Thanks all for your contributions.
