When Toby started up this forum EthelKing aka (Lee) said he was going to make Toby and myself tin mods. If you haven't seen his tins, go have a look! http://www.ethelking.co.uk/ Totally humbled by this, I was really excited. With the death of my Uncle last week it had been put to the back of my mind and I can admit, I probably forgot he said he was making them a few times. Then he PMed me the other day and said it was ready. A little bit of a silver lining on the cloudy week
Following are the images of it's unboxing. I HAD planned for a a few banana's to be in the pic and maybe a couple little monkey's but I forgot about them too and managed to just take these shots! TOTALLY forgot to take a pic of the button, I'll add that in later.
I was REALLY shocked at how gorgeous this turned out to be. The "label" doesn't appear to be a label at all and is fused with the top of the tin. It made taken a pic difficult and I had to bust out the diffuser... the image is iridescent because of the tin underneath the image. The camera picked up the bits of dust on it, no matter how much I wiped it away!
Opening it up, you can see it is totally clean, nothing poking out, very tidy and amazingly VERY simple! The quality Lee put into making these is brilliant. His label and a warning that the device does not come fitted with a safety switch and that removing the battery and atty are advised, when not in use is affixed on the inside lid. As you can see, you can fit a 10ml bottle of juice inside! PLUS! Turn it over and there is a nice button, it's hard plastic but not clicky like the lavatube. It does click, but very quietly!
The 510 atty connector is at one end of the mod (ooh! Button shot in that one!) You can screw the carto down directly without opening the tin, even though it looks like it may be overlapping, it's not. However, I opened the tin to avoid scratching or gouging the lids lip.
The only thing I did not get a shot of was the vent hole at the other end of the tin from the atty side. It is LARGE, not big enough to stick your finger through, but about the same size as the inside threading of the 510 connector. Plenty of escapage in the event of a battery venting incident.
Sadly, I don't have an 18650 that will fit this (mine are all HUGE) or the LT batteries. And I only have SR carto's. So I am going to pop in an order for some regular 18650's and some LR carto's so that I can give this a toot I will update once I get the battery and cartos!
Thank you so much Lee. This was better than being in a candy shop!
