What's new

First DIY liquid has funny aftertaste.

Maybe too much Heisenberg, have you tried 15%?

I've managed to have a play about today as my new coils came this morning.

I made a fresh 60/40 6mg Nic mix today with 15% concentrate. I cleaned my tank, fitted a new coil and gave the new mix a whirl. The funny taste was still there but not as much as before. (The coil used for this test, please see the end of my post).

I tried a brand new bottle of Heisenberg, cleaned the tank first and fitted another new coil. The funny taste was there again.

So, I'm thinking that the funny taste was always there but lurking in the background but I'd not noticed it as much until I made my own and increased the concentrate to 20% which made the funny taste much more prominent (after all, the concentrate was increased by 33%).

I've come to the conclusion that 16-17% is just about right. I haven't wasted much of the juice I've already made. The 30ml 20PG/80VG 20% concentrate mix I made was split into 2 to make 2 x 30ml 50PG/50VG 17% concentrate mixes and I managed to take 2 x 10ml 60PG/40VG 20% conc mixes into 4 x 10ml 60PG/40VG 17% conc mixes. I just have to chuck away about 10ml as it was too complicated to split them.

One question I do have. The new coil I mentioned above in the 2nd paragraph, does that have to be thrown away or could it be reused at a later date? It doesn't matter really as it only cost me £1.50 really.

Thanks

Sorry to hijack the thread a little but when steeping do you take the lid off and store away for ages or leave the lid on? Not sure if its a stupid question as if the lid was off its open to dust and other particles causing contamination

When I steep juice I leave it in a cool dark place (a kitchen cupboard), going in once a day and opening each bottle, squeeze the air out, letting fresh air be drawn back in. Works for me, hope it works for you :D

coil should be fine mate ok it will take a few pulls of the new juice to clean the old flavour out its just the same as changing from say
vanilla to a orange will taste a bit strange until the new flavour comes through.
