Glycerin?

Can anyone tell me why it is always called vegetable glycerin?
Due to the rise in bio diesel, all glycerine that we buy is palm oil based. The soap companies do make some excess glycerin but they mostly use it themselves to make lotion and creams. (Yes, commercial soaps are made from animal fats called tallow). If you buy glycerin from boots or a baking shop, there is a small chance that some is animal based, unless the bottle states vegetable glycerin. Most likely not though. It is a byproduct in bio diesel production and the fuel companies have lots of it.
But my question is really, why is it important to have Vegetable Glycerin? Is it a thing to appeal to vegans? And considering that we are not likely to buy any other version, why not just call it Glycerin?

quite simply becasue any procust that has to list ingredients has to generally do so gicing the full name to disctinguish it from other vareities ( i would guess ) as there are 3 variations im aware of, vegatable , animal and synthetic

worst bit of spelling in a while.. ignore my bad typing ( words in a mucking fuddle and all that! )

Actually all are called "glycerin" in food and cosmetics ingredient lists. Although you are allowed to put the word vegetable in brackets.

There's a thread here somewhere but I can't find it and it contains the ingredients of the boots vg as someone else was concerned that there might be oil in there. If I read it right, its safe to vape. Maybe someone else could back this up.

Hey Clint, its not about oil. But why vegetable glycerin specifically compared to just "any old" glycerin?

I presume there is a reason why you want to know this? I ask as I might just go research on google :P

No, I just wondered. I watched lots of YouTube videos today and it just struck me as odd.

Because it comes in USP and Pharma Grade? which is safer to use than just any old glycerin.

The 2 main for a of glycerin we use have slightly different effects on the vape. Vg (often sourced from boots and confirmed as being vegetable sourced) is great for clouds of vapour, pg is a better flavour carrier and gives more throathit. That's why most juice is a combination of both. Some people react to one or the other (I've recently found that high vg juice doesn't work for me) so having the 2 different sources allows for greater personalization of the vapour :) As clint said, there is a thread somewhere confirming that boots vg is 100% vegetable based and, as it is pharma grade, I have no reason to doubt this. As we are inhaling stuff, the purity is extremely important hence using pharma grade and not food grade.
