Goon rda

hi everyone I've just taken delivery of a goon clone that I won in a comp. it is my first rda but I have been using the rba in the baby beast and the the beast tanks so have a small amount of experience with coils and wicking..
I currently use a smok alien mod but whenever I put the goon on to dry and dry fire the coils that came with it all I get is no coil or short atomiser. Nothing visually shorting or touching anywhere that it shouldn't.
Is there anything here that I am missing or something else I should be doing?

Maybe try unscrewing the 510 pin a little

And make sure no juice is in the 510 mod hole. And all coil legs are not touching and tightened enough

Could have popped the coil dry burning at too high wattage. If you cant see a problem on a goon, there is something up with the pin or the mod itself. The only atty ive had this happen regularly was a digiflavor lynx id accidentally swapped a clamp screw for a pharoah screw which when tightened down caused shorts as it was slightly longer. Maybe the insulator isnt seated correctly too. If it persists dont use it.

Are the clamps screwed tight on all the legs? I don't know what wire you are using but I find with standard kanthal it can be difficult getting all the legs secure under the clamps. Where as thicker wire such as Clapton is a lot easier to clamp down tight,

Not sure what was going on to be honest. Had the some premade coils that just wouldn't work no matter what I did
Made some of my own with some 24g ni80 that I was using for my baby beast rba and everything is all good now!

Can't help but think that the goon deserves something bigger and better than 24g ni80 though. Lol
Any other suggestions for a nice flavourful build?

I bought a lost arts goon clone after i first replied to this thread, and since i bought it the resistance jumps all over the place every time i fire it its either atomiser short or going from 0.1 to 1.6. Wierdest shit i ever had in an rda ive removed all the posts, insulators clamps etc re assembled and still the same. I think it has something to do with the negative pin cos when it shorts if i screw it in/out it will fire for a few hits then short again.

My go to build is 2 x 24g n80 wrapped in 36,38 or 40g n80 or ss316. The 40 guage is rare cos its a pain in the arse but flavour wise they are gawjuss. Come out at around 0.1 with 5 wraps.

Ive tried 2 sets of my own fused claptons its dodgy asf lol
