Gunna give making wicks etc a go

Fed up with buying replacements, just don't no what materials im going to need, any help would be grateful :)

YouTube is your friend search for you want to re coil and there will be vids showing you how to do it and also what to use.

The best way I have found is to find someone who can sit with you and show you how to make coils and wicks, 15 mins of one on one is worth a hundred hours on Youtube and forums. :).

I was the first person to embrace vaping at work and with my friends so its been me who has had to do it the hard way and teach myself the skills to make a descent coil and wick and after a lot of initial disasters I can now make a fair coil and wick :). But now I seem to have impromptu coiling sessions with people and most people seem to get the method in a short time but showing says a thousand words and almost all now make their own coils and wicks :). The ones that don't can't have fat fingers or just cant see that small, I still help and make coils for them and to make my life easy they are mostly converted to cotton wool wicks so I don't have to make coils I just change the wick. :) and most of them can now roll a bit of cotton wool to re wick in an emergency so all is good.

So find a friend have a quick one on one coiling session and you will wonder why you had a problem :).

I had a similar experience with my group of friends although I was not the first to start vaping, I was the first to move from egos and on to mods and now RDAs and I am slowly passing on the knowledge I have gained.

In response to the OP, I have rebuilt the coils in my protanks and the performance I can get from them (and cost saving) is amazing.

Recoiled my evods for a couple of months.

Tried some cotton wool last week, liking the results thus far:)

I rebuild protank coils coz they are easy

I use .20 Kanthal (6wraps) and Cotton balls for wick i get 2.4ohms pretty consistently

I usually do 6 wraps around a precision screwdriver, slide it off, use a lighter until it is glowing, then press the coils together using pliers. I then light it again and press again. This makes sure the coils are small enough to not touch the sides of the atty, in essence a micro coil (of sorts)

Once the coil is in place, I roll up some cotton and thread it through the coil until it is snug. Trim up and ready to go.

Remember to check your ohms on a VV/VW device before firing it up

You get a slight taste from the cotton for the first 5 puffs, but then vapes like a dream and really cheap too

I can usually do about 12 attys in half hour

I've started rebuilding my mini protank 2 coils too, currently have a 2.1 Ohm coil from 5 wraps of 0.2mm kanthal around two pieces of 2mm silica wick and I'm delighted with the performance so far.

It was highly recommended to me to have a resistance checker (Ohm meter) for your coils so you can check their resistance before you fire them up, so would like to forward the recommendation on to you :)

In case you have the mini protanks or similar, they have the metal tube that pushes into the top of the coil housing - when testing a new coil build I find it advisable to push this tube on when you check the coil in case the coil is too high in it's seat and is touching the metal tube above it :)

^ what resistant meter are you using ? Looking for a decent one myself

I'm using my MVP v2 which has a built in one, I was also given a multi meter recently which I use too (handy for when I forget which batteries I need to charge!). I've seen some good Ohm meters with a 510 connection specifically for vapers, I will try and find a linky...

[edit] @Danny K an Ohm meter can be found in this link (does not have ego threading though, only 510 in description) , I've seen a few of them about from different vendors, might be worth checking the Discount section too :)

The P-Vaper one I linked too above doesn't seem to have a ego threading on it, it says that adapters can be used with it to test ego type attys but does not mention any adapters that come with the device.

[edit] P-Vaper has commented later in this thread to confirm their Ohm meter does suit both 510 and ego threading :)

This
one does I believe from Cloud9vaping, I'll have a hunt around from my current vaping sources...

[edit] can't find any others from where I have bought from (I am quite new though), but hopefully others can recommend some good alternatives - a multi meter is always handy though especially if you are going down the mod path :)

Multimeter from search on eBay cost me £3,its not very accurate if I was using it for electronics...but is perfectly good for checking atomizers for shorts, and for coils resistances.
