Hi everyone, hope you are all well.

I was reading a post from a vape shop on facebook, and they was talking about what they stock. They mentioned stocking what is popular, and the reason they don't stock RTA's or RDA's is because they are dying out.

Maybe I am getting old in my vaping life lol, but I am still loving all my rebuildable things, it is all I use.

So, who else is still building on here? Or have you moved on to things like pod systems, which I have yet to try, or something else?

Would be nice to hear from some of the old faces here on their opinion, and also newer members on what they prefer to use.

Still rebuilding. I have a couple of clearos for out and about with the dog and I have tried and rejected pods/aio's but by and large, I am an rta vaper.

It’s not died out - a lot of shops don’t like to stock rebuildable because they sell coils - new rebuildable gear is coming out all the time

that’s my take on it anyway!

i use a mixture of rebuildables and stock coil tanks but always new stuff coming out

That does make a lot of sense, the shops are there to make a profit and having to go back to purchase coils keeps them custom.

I will have to take a look at some of the new rebuildable gear then, a lots been going on in my life so have been using the gear I already have.

Thanks for your input on this.

I thought it was because of tpd, esp. relating to rdas, the shops being scared of trading standards raiding them and because the (high street) shops would rather sell stock coils on a regular basis than one off sales for rebuildables. Walk into most high street shops and say you rebuild and make your own juices, well they're not going to get much money out of you then - as one shop owner said to me.

I'm not sure whats happening with knucklehead vapes (now Ralfy's Emporium) but they seem to be flogging all the rebuildable / mech stuff off dirt cheap and moving into pods and "Mind Body and Spirit" products, which is of course their right to do. Maybe they know something we don't, a clampdown coming perhaps, been rumoured for ages with regard to rda's and shortfills.

Edit: Ninja'd there, I was taking ages writing my post.

I think it has a lot to do with experience and ease! Some people want to play with the kit and find what works for them and (dial it in) and others want to just plug and play! Or like me didn’t know better until I’d bought gear and started searching.

^^^ THIS 200% ^^^

Shops stock stuff that sells (ergh obviously)
but with emphasis on profit/mark up too plus repeat trade

You sell a rebuildable - what else are you going to flogg 'em
25/50m of wire to last 5~8 years ???
little bags of fancy cotton until they buy Muji/Labo

Shops like stock coil, AIO, Pod stuff to flogg supplies each month

Other than that, mark up on juice they sell
Or recent mods, batteries - again until others find other places to purchase from

I think in general, "most" of the small vape shops serve as a stepping stone
for new vapers/smokers trying to quit to ask 20 questions and test the water/juice
I think in light of recent vaping BS & saturation of market
(every bloody high street has a vape shop (or two))

Shops have had to look & evaluate at where their actual market is
and a fairly high percentage will be the newbie looking for an easy to use kit

Shops can sell rebuildable stuff, but it is not such a big seller like starter/2nd kits
and the risk of being lumbered with a "new & improved" pile of shit tank is risky too
to only sell at a loss when the DoDo RTA is replaced by a superior RTA that hits the spot

I know some established shops do stock a vast range of gear to suit all
but was referring to many of the pop up vape shops - these will tend to sell starter AIO/Pods
(basically more foolproof kits for newbies or idiots
NB: not calling pod users idiots as such but a general term for new comers)

Plus shops can't be arsed or in some cases lack the wisdom to educate idiots
in rebuilds or those idiots can't be arsed themselves to mess around with wires n shit

There is nothing wrong with sticking to stock coil stuff I wish to point out

Use whatever works for you
Shops will sell shit - sorry stuff that sells or they don't make money/profit
does not mean those items are the best available, but suited to market the shop sells to

Rebuildables sell very well - just perhaps not really to the shop's customers coming through the door
which the owner was kinda correct in saying - in an enormous roundabout posting of mine

"Have rebuildables died out ???"

I'll let somebody answer that question....

Rebuildables are very much alive. Mainly use MTL RTAs but I always buy online as I struggle to find what I want in local B&Ms.
