What's new

Have rebuildables died out?

I still rebuild in fact thats all i do as i use RDAs most of the time i forgotten the last time i used stock coils.

Haven't bought a coil for probably 2 years, I think alot of the newer converts to vaping are almost put off the idea of rebuilding or worried it's going to be a massive pita especially with the rise of pods making it even easier to just swap the pod out

Rdas/rtas are more for the enthusiast or those that it has turned into a hobby for, but can't see that market drying up any time soon

It’s not died out - a lot of shops don’t like to stock rebuildable because they sell coils - new rebuildable gear is coming out all the time

that’s my take on it anyway!
^^THIS^^

Only 1 shop in my town sells rebuildables but they are new & still learning, the other shops have walls full of stock coils.

There's still a lot of MTL & DTL rebuildables out there and spoilt for choice still, even the POD/AIO trend is coming out with RBA's in some cases.

It's rare I buy hardware from B&M's as they simply can't compete with online retailers so I don't blame them for focusing on stock coils and juices.

I'm not sure whats happening with knucklehead vapes (now Ralfy's Emporium) but they seem to be flogging all the rebuildable / mech stuff off dirt cheap and moving into pods and "Mind Body and Spirit" products,

That's a very good question which actually crossed my mind last night as I noticed they'd closed down their ebay account, so I had an extended google session. Seems it's a mix of personal family issues and rebranding into more profitable ventures over the last year. Not going into the details but needless to say, I wish them well. (Anyone of a mind to can easily find out, it was all in the public domain)

On the general topic of rebuildables, I'm of the firm belief that pods and AIO are strangling the market for the hobbyist but I don't believe we're their target audience in the main anyway. Also think as the cycle comes round again we'll see other stuff when that area slows down.

I'll never stop building and have enough of everything for my lifetime.
I think if vaping stays in the UK then eventually cigs will fade away and pod things will be the future. The majority like ease of use and can't be bothered building, although they all say mine tastes better lol.
As said above it's the money making game these businesses want and for sure big business will take over with mass marketing and ripping the public off.I suspect this is the UK government's preference so they can slowly raise taxes on us as tobacco smoking fades out. It's the next generations that won't have our roots and insights into how we do it, as the majority of the public already haven't got a clue tbh.

Rebuildables will not die out for the same reason that tailor made cigarettes never killed off the roll-up.

It is cheaper. That alone is enough of a reason for some of us.

I don't think they are dying out as far as people using them, sales have probably dropped because it's got to the stage where there's less innovation and people who go for re-buildables are a little more clued up. Once you have a Profile, Zeus, Intake or for the nut-cases out there a Titan what else do you need. And yeah the vape shops are all about the return business.

Lol
I would say a skyfall or a haku venna [emoji16]

Sub ohm tanks with mesh coils and pod systems have definitely taken a nice slice of the current market but no way is the rebuildable side of vaping dying. Most people just buy online now as it's far cheaper and there is far more choice. And buying direct from China circumvents TPD restrictions.
