Help with DotMod AIO V2

Sounds like too much wick and you're drying the wicks out from the initial prime.

Just rewicked, hope this helps.

Late to the party, but if you’re not getting flavor, it’s probably too much wick. Imo there’s no YouTube vids that show how to wick it correctly.

@John R ’s pics are a great example of this. Your wicks should barely touch the deck, and mustn’t block the juice flow.

One thing the pics can’t show is how much cotton to use. For myself, less is more. You don’t want it to gurgle or leak, but cotton that is too tight in the coil will also kill your flavor. The YouTube vids never show mtl builds, and wicking a small round wire coil is not the same as building with a large kanthal coil. I almost always have to experiment a bit with a new rta/rba to find that golden balance of just enough.

Maybe you’ve posted it already, but what type of juice are you using? With 50:50 I never bother raking the cotton, but if you’re using 70:30, it may be necessary to get enough juice to the coil.

Hi thanks all for this! From Johns pictures it looks like if anything he may be using more cotton than me I’m not sure as you say It’s hard to tell, but I’ve been cutting the cotton from the most inner line of the tank, the only thing I haven’t tried is putting a bit of a hole in the middle of the cotton to allow juice to pool- in terms of juice I’m using 50/50 Zap!Aisu lemon & Lime 6mg

Honestly, I can’t really tell how much cotton he’s used from the pics, mainly because he has fluffed his ends (not a euphemism:18:). How much cotton is based more on how much resistance there is when you pull it back and forth in the coil then how much it looks like. I roll and straighten my cotton a bit before I feed it through the coil, so less resistance, but after it’s wet it’s ideal. I also notice a difference between how much cotton I use depending on the brand. He uses Cotton N Fiber which wicks a bit differently than the BP I often use (just did a comparison in my KfBB).

It’s been a few weeks since I used my dotrba; I’ll build it this evening when I’m home and also post some pics ;)

Sounds great thank you! Hmm maybe that may be the issue as my cotton might be too tight in the coil, I’m gonna have a go at rewicking again soon so I’ll send some pics and see where I get to, hopefully I’ll get there soon!

The important bit is understanding how the tank works, the liquid comes down, you need to allow it to drip down with the wick tails absorbing it, so the wick needs to slope down from the coil to allow liquid in.
