When first wicking or all the time?
Sounds like too much wick and you're drying the wicks out from the initial prime.
Honestly, I can’t really tell how much cotton he’s used from the pics, mainly because he has fluffed his ends (not a euphemism). How much cotton is based more on how much resistance there is when you pull it back and forth in the coil then how much it looks like. I roll and straighten my cotton a bit before I feed it through the coil, so less resistance, but after it’s wet it’s ideal. I also notice a difference between how much cotton I use depending on the brand. He uses Cotton N Fiber which wicks a bit differently than the BP I often use (just did a comparison in my KfBB).
It’s been a few weeks since I used my dotrba; I’ll build it this evening when I’m home and also post some pics
