What's new

Hi Guys. Anyone know much about Importing liquid regulation

i used to work for a large company that supplied grocery shops with stock that we imported and all we did was put a sticky label with our contact details on each item. easy peasy.

Thanks guys Danny K and madpiano. Information is really useful. TS are never easy. They confiscated all my liquids because it didn't have the address and raised Braile triangle but had all the other symbols. So had to get that sorted before they gave it back to me.

you may find this helpful www3.hants.gov.uk/tradingstandards/product-safety/electronic-cigarettes.htm

Wow, that was heavy handed of them. Sounds like someone had it in for you. Normally they are helpful and try to help you comply. Maybe their boss had run out of juice...

@Danny K
Thanks for that information. It's really helpful.
Do you know if it is a necessity to have your information on the label and also do you have any problems while importing as they have your company details as your not the manufacturer.

You can look up all the regulations that are to do with selling e-cigs here at ECITA

there's quite a few. (and everyone says e-cigs are 'unregulated' !)

Legally if you import something from outside the EU you are the manufacturer the law doesn't care who actually made the items, if it breaks, if it bursts into flames, if it doesn't work, if <insert calamity here> , it's on your head. Noone elses.

If you import from anywhere at all, and change it before reselling it, rebottling e-liquid, relabelling e-liquid etc then again you are legally the manufacturer.

If you make sure you do all of the majorly boring paperwork for everything you import, get CE certification where appropriate(batteries and chargers), write up DOCs (Documents of Conformity) and basically make sure that the things you're bringing in are up to EU safety standards and you make sure that your insurance explicitly covers you for e-liquid manufacture (if it doesn't say anything about it, then you aren't covered and insurance companies are really good at getting out of paying for stuff they don't absolutely have to) then you should have no worries at all on that front.
