I'd like to think that if someone has a cough or sneezes they'd be at home self isolating rather than going down the shops.....

But this is why people are confused. If face masks are effective along with hand sanitizer and social distancing in shops, then why shut the shops down for months? If it wasn't effective then, then it isn't now. ... and the opposite must be true. Why not just close them for a couple of weeks so they can get these procedures in place, so people can shop safely? It feels like something doesn't add up.
Well, at first they wernt sure if it was airborne(which it isnt), in which case u would really need sealed goggles as well to be safe, and also wernt sure how infectious it was by touching things, which they learned it was not and that most cases were person to person water droplet transmission (and i hate to say it, but vaping obviously would transmit it through the vapor) but it dissipates quickly and unless u were vaping in someones face, it probably wont make much difference from breathing.

A lot of stores thats what happened btw, they switched to drive thru only, or overnight they all had acrylic panels in between the register and customers

Covid-19 isn't the only cause of coughs or sneezing though, what about hay fever ........ or just dust (big problem where I work)? Perfectly healthy people cough or sneeze for no medical reason all the time, and spit tiny droplets when they talk ...............

That's still the advice though isn't it? If you have any symptoms, stay at home, order a test.

I agree something doesn't add up though ................ if it's effective next week, then it's effective now. And was several months ago ................. :banghead:

people are a lot closer together now than they were serveral months ago, added precaution probably just to attempt to keep it at bay

Bloody hell - I've never even looked at it that way! So a single sneeze, which you know is caused by hay fever as you get it every year, or because you''ve just opened a box of dusty books, and you should consider it a 'symptom' and order a test? :11:

In other words, especially with a shortage of masks, they wernt sure they would even be effective so better to err on the side of caution since the hospitals wouldnt be able to handle it if they were wrong...now that they know that yeah, masks are enough to be effective, wear one

I don't know.... I don't know how you would know either way?

could be hay fever, might not be?

... maybe not a single sneeze though, but several over a day?

Several over a day is something worth watching I agree. Problem is that many people who test positive are asymptomatic too, so could be wandering about in blissful ignorance?

Specsavers, two eye tests in 9 days, only had to (rightly) pay for one, he messed up my script for intermediate glasses, by deciding he knew best what magnification I needed, and when I looked at my pc screen it was instant blurriness and ocular headache time. Boots is best for eye tests, Vision Express are worse than Specsavers - at least they were. Cant beat the glasses price at Specsavers, I cant afford Boots, for sure.

Damn, maybe I've been lucky, not had an issue with them yet. I used to use a local one called Aaron's years ago, stopped because the robbing bastards would require you to have a contact lens checkup every 3 month at £30 a pop, if you refused they wouldn't release your contact lenses until you had your most recent checkup.

Contact lens checks are necessary, but usually yearly, something to do with the fact that if your eyes curvature changes and you don't change your lenses you can damage your eyes. Every three months was taking the piss, you were paying about £30 for a months lenses, then £30 on top every 3 month.

Different countries receive differing information.

1. Routes of transmission
Infection control advice is based on the reasonable assumption that the transmission characteristics of COVID-19 are similar to those of the 2003 SARS-CoV outbreak. The initial phylogenetic and immunologic similarities between COVID-19 and SARS-CoV can be extrapolated to gain insight into some of the epidemiological characteristics.

The transmission of COVID-19 is thought to occur mainly through respiratory droplets generated by coughing and sneezing, and through contact with contaminated surfaces. The predominant modes of transmission are assumed to be droplet and contact.

During AGPs there is an increased risk of aerosol spread of infectious agents irrespective of the mode of transmission (contact, droplet, or airborne), and airborne precautions must be implemented when performing aerosol generating procedure (AGPs), including those carried out on suspected as well as confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Initial research has identified the presence of COVID-19 virus in the stools and conjunctival secretions of confirmed cases. All secretions (except sweat) and excretions, including diarrhoeal stools from patients with known or possible COVID-19, should be regarded as potentially infectious.
