How long to phase out tobacco and move onto vaping?

Morning all. I've been a heavy smoker for 37 years now, pipes and cigarettes. Only been on the ecigs and vaporisers 11 days now. Want to completely come off tobacco but want to do it gradually. Only on about 5 fags now and 2 pipes a day, the rest is vaping. Was on a lot more fags and pipes before I started vaping. How long do you think I should take to phase out tobacco completely? I was thinking a couple or a few months? Don't want to hurry it too much then get put off through failure. Only gone onto vaping to try and improve my health, now I'm really liking it. Thanks in advance for any comments. Cheers...

Take your time :) I went straight away from smoking to vaping, but did have a couple relapses when out and about and my kit was faulty or not charged. I had a 2 week relapse last August and when I finally said enough was enough, the closes I came since to smoking, was half an inhale on a cig this past August.

Everyone is different, so do it your own time... if you dont think about it too much, it will become the new "normal" for you and you will find yourself reaching for your vape gear over your papers and lighter more often than not :)

Youre doing really good to cut down that much all ready in such a short time! Really proud of you mate!

Thanks a lot mate. Slowly slowly. Thing I'm noticing straight away is that all the bad smells have gone, my home was permanently submerged in heavy smoke cloud formation before, 24/7!!! Had to open all the windows full right through the nights middle of freezing cold winter, just to get some air to breathe!!

ADAM, well done mate! I tried each and every method of giving up before I bought a Skycig nearly two years ago, and I was amazed at just how effective e-cigarettes were! I moved onto an eGo, and switch to vaping overnight. To say that was a surprise, is definitely the understatement of the year.

As KulrMeStoopid has said, take your time, and do exactly what works for you. If that means a week, a month, a year or a decade of dual use, then so be it - less fag smoking has got to be better than all smoking in anyone's book. :D

Wait until you get the nerve to wash all the tar and smoke residue off your walls :P Make sure to get behind the picture frames too ;)

Youre taste buds will start to go wonky shortly too :) Youll find you enjoy different tastes more or less now that you can taste more flavours!

Took me and the Mrs 3 days but that was because we only had one cigalike between us and had to wait for another to be delivered. Then we just never smoked again. Never thought about it, just didn't smoke anymore. Over 2 years now and never had any issues at all ever.

The joy of it is, we never ever set out to give up completely, never told anyone or even suggested to this day we were going to give up smoking. so there was never any promises made or pressure put on us to do so. We just vape instead.

I must admit though, I've got my pipe in the drawer next to my bed and occasionally give it a loving caress when I go to the drawer for something... Not yet succumb though :)

It takes as long as it takes mate,i was fortunate that i stopped smoking at the same time i started vaping, if it takes you couple of months then thats how long it takes, don't rush it and relapse, you are cutting right down and that is amazing!
You may well find that you no longer what to smoke but even if your down to one analogue a day for months, then vaping is working, itis the ciggies you don't smoke that count :)

Like already said, no time limit. Took me 5 weeks, after 35 years of smoking. You'll know when your ready, if your like me, the smokes will start to taste nasty. I stopped completely when I ran out of tobacco (had a supply of DF to use up). That was 3 months and 17 days ago now, not that i'm counting.

We're all different...Well thats what everyone else has said so far....But I was like you...at least a half ounce of baccky a day for 40 years and just stopped....But to honest my nic level is up on the 24mg level so still a lot of nic....I intend to cut that eventually and maybe go down a bit to 18mg....then further down in time. I fell by the wayside just once in the two months or thereabouts I've been off the fags and it was a bit of a disapointment to be honest...It tasted like shit and I used to like my fags...Just keep it up and if you need some moral support we are all here for you....

Adam well done for taking the first steps, it really does vary from person to person, I bought an ecig on a Friday and by Monday had given up the cigs. A friend of mine bought one at the same time and it took her 3 weeks to stop the cigs. Just take one day at a time and if you have a ciggarette so what :)
