How long to phase out tobacco and move onto vaping?

I started vaping 3 months ago and have not had one rollie since. Started smoking near 30 years ago. NRT and cig-a-likes did not do it for me and eventually went back to the rollies. This time, I hope it's for good. Am loving vaping so much, especially for al the flavours I am trying out.

For some, it's been easy to make the switch, for others, it's harder. I think a lot of it is psychological.

Many start with a baccy flavour, as I did, because that first step to switching to e-cigs is big enough without losing the baccy taste too but I quickly switched from baccy flavours to a whole range of others.

Do what works for you, in your own time. Well done! :)

I started vaping 3 weeks ago....still smoking but letting that die out naturally...(down to under a quarter of what I did smoke) ...for me personally I find going cold turkey on the smokes has never worked for me....vaping however is slowly taking over by itself...this is how I will continue until vaping is second nature......

Adam, well done on taking the first step and each subsequent step makes you that bit better off. Remember, it is not the cigs you smoke during the transition that matter but the ones you avoid through vaping - this will hopefully happen more and more until you are comfortable leaving smoke behind entirely.

Personally speaking, I prefer the clean break method, get a decent strength liquid you like the taste of and are happy to chain vape if required and then just one day see if you can do a whole day with just vape as and when you need to. eventually you cut the nicotine strength down but having already transitioned and become accustomed to the difference it helps you reduce your nicotine intake too - double bonus

I was actually planning to quit using patches, and bought a cig-a-like because I can't wear the 24-hour patches and that first smoke in the morning was the killer, so I needed something to carry me over until the patches cut in. Very quickly ditched the patches and kept the cig-a-likes, then moved on to vaping and I'm as happy as Larry. So I've not had a cigarette since day one, as it were. HOWEVER, plenty of members combine smoking and vaping on order to cut down, and as Doofry says, it's the cigarettes you DON'T smoke that count. Kudos for making the switch - don't pressure yourself and let it come naturally.

hello ADAM its different for everybody I think I started on the cigalikes for a couple of weeks and was kinda changing between those and fags then when I got my jacvapour vgo2 kit I smoked cigs for maybe 3 more days then i just chucked em in the bin i've had 3 serious temptations since but for the last two weeks i've really not missed smoking at all and have never felt better - before I was smoking 50 a day for 17 years so i'm not gonna say it was easy in those early days but its good once you get there - like I say though just go at a pace that suits you there is no right or wrong answer its never too slow or too fast its ur personal preference - and don't get annoyed with yourself if you slip up and have a ciggie.

I don't have any pearls of wisdom but just want to congratulate you on your first steps kicking the stinkies.

Later.

Paul.

Happy Tuesday morning all. I am now on only 2 cigs in the morning, and the rest of the day vaping. Still early days as only been vaping 13 days now, but a big improvement from 40-50 cigs a day! Got a couple CE4's and 2 Ego mega dual coils, plus a decent stock of eliquids, so that I don't run out of vapers and have to light up again. Running out of vapers would be a serious bummer at this stage!! Happy vaping everybody...

Finding the mornings first thing with the coffee, the Hardest time to not light up a cigarette or pipe!!!! Want to phase this out in the next week hopefully....and replace it with vaping.

Good effort ADAM! just remember that while you have made superb progress to get this far in such a short time, don't feel guilty if you fall off the wagon and have the odd extra stinkie, that's life and sh!t happens!
only 2 a day is so much better than 40+ a day, you might find that those last 2 a day will end up smelling revolting!
