it's alright. Sorry if i sound like a bit of a noob lol. I have put it down and am now sitting tightly until my coil master arrives. I now know to never vape until i have checked it. Will the meter read 0 ohms if its shorted?
If it’s a hard short. Then yes the meter should say. If it’s anything other than that then it will show you exactly how many ohms your build is.
Which can be telling in and of itself. For instance if your 0.5ohm coil is actually reading at 0.2 then you have a problem somewhere.
Rules when building RDA’s especially for mechs.
1. Check the rda before installing a coil. It should be an open circuit. If it has any readable resistance then something is wrong.
2. Always know what your coil should read. Whether you’ve bought pre wrapped ones. Or made your own with steam engine. Always know your target resistance.
3. Install and then check on a reader. It should be fairly close to your target resistance. If your target is 0.5 then a reading of 0.47 or 0.52 is probably fine. Anything wildly off is not.
4. Always use ohms law to make sure that you are within the current limit of your battery. Use the CDR value, pulse ratings are bullshit.
5. Always check your battery wrap and insulator, if they are even slightly damaged, rewrap them or get new ones.
6. Always remove batteries from your mech when not in use. The locking mechanism if it had one is probably ok if it’s just going to be on a table in front of you for a bit. But if it’s going to go in your bag or something take the batteries out.
7. Always carry your batteries in a protective case to stop them shorting.
