What's new

Humidity, Damp, Condensation and Vaping

Haha! :D

Laundry's one of my main problems actually, I live in a flat and so have to stick everything on the radiators which just puts the moisture into the air and also means I don't get as much benefit from the radiators. I have one bedroom wall that's so damp I decided to paint it to cover the discolouration and it took four days for the emulsion to dry :/ That was in Feb.

I've been there. It's really not good.

Seriously, buy one as soon as you can. You won't regret it.

When repainting areas that have been effected by black mould clean the mould off and then give the area of wall/ceiling a coat of solvent based wood primer before top coating with your normal emulsion. The sooty stains can bleed through normal paint and show up even after the damp issues have been solved. You can buy specialist stain block paints, but according to experts solvent based primer does the job just as well and works out a lot more cost effective as you can use up the rest of the tin for it's normal purpose.

Also works on soot stains, watermarks and pretty much anything else you care to name. My Dad has been using this technique for years and I have used it successfully on soot. Recently I had the opportunity to ask a true expert on the subject :)

Oh my what a brilliant thread , me too , awful damp in an otherwise lovely flat , wash down the walls in rotation with a mould and mildew spray from October til about April , total nightmare , and we were thinking ours is worse this year , we all smoked last winter out on our little terrace now we are three vapers vaping in the flat , pretty sure it isn't helping the situation ! I've taken some comfort in knowing it's not just me . I asked my landlord yesterday for a dehumidifier so fingers crossed xx

I've moved into a new flat (ha! "New to me" - it's 40 years old) and this morning all the double-glazed windows have internal condensation. Aaargh!

Meantime, not sure if it's dampness, or the PG/VG being broken down into sugars, but has anybody noticed black patches in the bathroom since starting to vape? The only room I smoked in was bathroom - left window open all the time - and the walls acquired a vile film of tar. Cleaned thoroughly when I quit smoking; but now getting black stains on the tiles. Not sure if it's the vaping, or just my general filth.

I live in a bungalow. This year I've noticed an increase in the condensation and damp in our property. It could be this year's climate but I was wondering if my indoor vaping for the past year could cause excessive condensation.

Any thoughts from any of you lovely people?

Condensation is usually all about airflow.Look upon your little bungalow as an atomiser, you will always get moisture building up inside your bungalow as you do vapor inside your atty. You toot on your drip tip and pull that vapor out of the tank.In the case of your bungalow I would double check that any insulation you have in the loft has not been pushed right up against the sides of the building, this restricts the natural suction which occurs with any draught going under the soffits of the roof.Whilst double glazing has it`s advantages if there is not enough natural air coming in then you are forming a vaccuum inside with nowhere for the moisture to escape

I thought this thread would be about how much more epic your clouds look on a damp cold morning.

I'm disappointed :(

One of my best vapey moments is going outside on a night shift at work at about 4 to 5 o'clock in the morning.

Loft insulation has been itchily checked by me. Last year I even fitted an extra extractor fan in the back bedroom.

I think it's mainly due to extra humidity this year and will look to getting dehumidifier/s.
