Yes, I am finding the layout rather mind numbing as well.
Each section is dedicated to a specific type of conversation,
The first few sections are specific to POTV > Vendor of the Month, Forum News and Information, POTV Marketplace Discussion - These sections are basically just about POTV and are at the top of the forum to highlight some important things happening within the entire website... It probably does get a little confusing because we have a lot going on sometimes!
The next sections are based to conversation about vaping...
New Users, Vape Discussion, and DIY - New Users are restricted to the New Users section for their 1st 10 posts, but then the rest of the forum will unlock for posting.
The next section is dedicated to Vaping Gear basically in the form of a Review Section, followed by a "where to get gear section" Bargains, Classies, Group buys, Vendors ect.
The final sections are for Community involvement and non vape related chat.
While it might seem overwhelming at first, once you've gotten comfortable, it all starts to "make sense" how one section leads to the next and so forth. Within each section are also sub-forums for the different aspects of the "Main Forums"
Don't worry if you post some thing in the wrong place or can't find what you are looking for, a mod or admin can always move the post the "right" spot or members will direct you to other threads and/or provide links and further information.
The layout itself is pretty standard to VBulletin (the software we use for the forum) and is quite smaller than some other forums, while also being larger than others too. We kind of fall right into the middle. If you need any help just ask!
