if you read the article you would see this is quite common and is also the case for vaccines for all the conditions listed below. the law that the coronavirus vaccine is being added to has existed since 1979.

no, it’s for it to be shipped out to care homes etc. from the hospitals where they will be keeping it in the big fridges. to avoid people having to come to it.

You keep telling yourself that, yesterday it could only be transported for 2 hrs in an unfrozen state, today it's 12 hrs..... magic that is.
Sure it's because care homes are further away than 2 hours from the big freezers and someone told them that.
The announcement was rushed to be "THE FIRST" and to quell unhappiness re the tier system.
As reality dawns.... the vaccine has logistic difficulties.... easy solution, change that temp of transportation pronto.
The public are now desperate and will believe anything in order to get the jab.
Also are Pfizer/BioNTech now moving the goal posts so wide because the other vaccines don't require such a low temp to maintain their efficacy.

read the link to pfizer’s website i posted for you. it lives for five days out of the freezer at 2-8 degrees. what freeman is talking about is the government working out their procedure for transporting it. they didnae think they could split the batches and transport it, but they’ve now worked out a way they can.

in your line of work i would have thought you’d realise the importance of this, and how a bus run out to a giant fridge for the 80 odd old folk with dementia living in a care home wouldnae be a very bright idea.

12 hrs means it can now be flown on planes n the like ,no need for fancy boxes n dry ice n shit.... so why were they even a thing as early ago as yesterday.
to answer your my line of work thingy......
If the vaccine arrives at -70 as intended, it goes in a fridge for 5 days.... that is easy to track n keep a trace of and record.
If it fks about all over the place at less than -70 for fk knows how long, by whom.... then you are eating into that 5 day window and will be a nightmare to record and keep track of and vaccines will be binned.
I have lost count of the amount of medication I have binned throughout the years because of a 7 day refrigerated window, never mind a 5 day.
Im telling ye they are at it.....coming the madam

Edit : I fully expect the 5 day window to extend to 30 days by tomorrow

naw, they send it in the suitcase, as i understand it, which is then decanted in a big fridge. the 30 + 5 day window is from when the suitcase is decanted. up to 30 days in the big freezer, up to 5 days between 2-8C after it’s out.

i agree that half of it will either end up in the bin or being injected into folk after being lukewarm for 3 weeks. but that’s what we have to expect, our leaders are no exactly too competent.
