Hi all,

I found this wonderful forum via google. Looks like a place I can get impartial advice. I've been reading the posts but I find all the information overwhelming.
Here's my situation: been smoking for 20 years, about 1 pack a day, but very light cigarettes. My addiction is mostly to the act of smoking rather than the nicotine (sadly, I love it :( ).
I've finally decided I want to quit or at least cut back a lot. In the past (maybe 3 years ago) I did try e-cigarettes and found them absolute crap, not even close to actual smoking. ANyways, I decided to give it another try and so I went to a local vape shop and they sold me an aspire pocket x. To my great surprise, it wasn't bad at all. The throat hit (I think that's the right term) is a lot better than I expected and the feeling overall is not bad. I got 3mg liquid and that seems enough for me.
I think I can use this to quit eventually. I defintely don't want to replace smoking with vaping forever, I just want to replace it for now and then phase out the vaping as well. So I'm not interested in any advanced techniques or whatnot, just the basics.
So far I've gone from 1 pack a day to about 1/2 pack a day in 2 weeks.

My problem is I found the aspire pocket x to have 2 issues:
- it leaks - which is absolutely disgusting
- it "spits" - not sure how else to describe it, when I push the button to heat the liquid in the first few seconds it seems to bubble a bit and i got my lips burnt a few times or end up with liquid straight on my tongue.

So my question to you is: is there another starter kit type of e-cig that is as good as the aspire in terms of throat hit and quantity of vapour but that doesn't have the above issues? Money is not a problem, I don't mind paying more for something that will help me quit ciggaretes, in the long run it's definetly worth it.

Anyways, thanks for any advice you can provide!
Cheers!

Not really my field but I'm sure someone will be along soon to help, welcome aboard anyway and for what it's worth I think the nautilus2 is quite good, mrs 666 has one at the min and she hasn't complained yet so it must be alright !

Hi and welcome to the planet.
ive not used the pocketx but im guessing you have a flooded coil. usually we would say turn the wattage up or down but as this is a fixed output you cant do that.
when i get flooding i get the coil out and wrap it in kitchen towel to drain off the excess juice. one back in tank blow down chiment a couple of times as usually that helps.

as your only using 3mg then this wont help much to totally kick the cigs.
i gave up with a mouth to lung tank on 18mg and stopped overnight after 37 years. over 2.5 years later im now on 3mg.
so the kit. have a look at the zelos and nautilus 2 tank. it has variable wattage and various coils so you can try different wattage.

as we are in the stoptober month there might be some great deals on at the moment but for quickness this is from one of our recommended hardware suppliers.
you could try with 18mg or 12mg with a 1.8 coil at 10-12watts and the vape will just be like how you used to smoke ie mouth to lung.

Thanks for your quick reply! In terms of flooded coil, I don't think it's that, I did change the coil twice so far and it keeps doing it. Based on some reviews I read, I think it might be a problem with the model itself, a lot of people were complaining.

For the zelos you mentioned... Can I just be a girl about it and say I don't like how it looks? To explain, my biggest problem with vaping is that i miss the feeling of holding the ciggarette. Using a pen-style cig like the pocket x is not the same but at least it's vaguely the same. Anything in any other shape would be too much for me. I don't want some weird-looking square box. Sorry, I know I sound crazy but that's just how my brain works... Anything good in the area of pen-like kits?

About the 3mg: my ciggarette of choice is dunhill light - the white one. You can't get them in the UK but they are some of the lighest available, only 0.4mg it says on the pack. Right now I am mixing cigs and e-cig and don't feel the nicotine crave, even with the 3ml liquid. I might try to get a stronger liquid next time but I fear it might be too strong. Can't hurt to try, obviously.

Hello @kisaki78, Nice to meet you mate !!!

in the pocket x it might be too strong to up the nic as it uses a 0.6 coil and that is more a sub ohm while the nautilus uses higher ohm coils like 1.8 or 0.7 so can take much higher nicotine.
i think you maybe stuck then as most of the tube mods are fixed and you cant alter the wattage.

you cant also compare the nic from a cig to the nic in eliquid.
ive smoked everything from capston full strentgh and almost every other make. for the last year of smoking i was on silk cut purple which was only 0.7 but i still needed the 1.8mg nic in an ecig to quit them once and for all.

Hello kisaki78, welcome to the planet. All the best with kicking the stink sticks!
