I can only comment on how good the nautilus 2 and zelos is im afraid. And while at first the size seems alien you still have the routine of raising it up to your mouth to inhale.

So my question to you is: is there another starter kit type of e-cig that is as good as the aspire in terms of throat hit and quantity of vapour but that doesn't have the above issues?

I've been vaping for nearly 3 weeks after regularly smoking 20 cigs a day. I've now been without a cigarette for 4 days after cutting down gradually. The device I have been using is a Smok Stik V8 Baby with x4 coils and 6mg nicotine juice. Hope this helps. And of course welcome to the planet.

Maybe something along the lines of an Arc 4 or equivalent type device would be more suitable? I find those 'all in one' kits tend to spit at you which isn't very pleasant when your trying to get off the ciggies!

Sites above are a quick search, you might find better deals and the UKeCig store is not known for being customer friendly.
You will have a good pen-style kit. You will do mouth-to-lung vaping more like smoking ciggies, not direct-to-lung as with the Pocket x.
With this kit you will want 12mg or 18mg liquids for mouth-to-lung at the beginning, 1.8 ohm coil recommended.
The Nautilus Mini doesn't leak!!
