You only have to read the info slip that comes with a paracetamol or ibuprofen packet to see that horrific side effects, however rare, are experienced by the very unlucky few with meds taken routinely around the world for things as simple as a headache without so much as a second thought. Doesn't stop people taking paracetamol when they are in pain because the odds of a severe reaction are so incredibly small. Statistically, serious side effects are rare and with most vaccines the benefits heavily outweigh the risks.
Also you have to weigh up the benefits of any medication, and your medical adviser, and yourself take a decision.
For example following my operation for DVT I had to be put on blood thinners for the rest of my life. I have also got Chronic Liver Disease, and most of the blood thinner meds can further damage your liver, but I don't worry, I take the blood thinners.
