Companies are able to apply to the MHRA to gain a licence for a 'medical' vaping product.3. Reading through the judgement above by the ASA - is there such thing as a licensed eCigarette product? They note, "[we] reminded them that when advertising unlicensed nicotine-containing e-cigarettes on their own website" - I'm just confused that to call something 'unlicensed', implies there is a license available for that specific product.
To date there has been no applications, but (I believe I remember correctly) BAT are working on producing a device that will then be able to be stocked in pharmacies and prescribed by doctors. I'll be checking on that before writing this up for next week's newsletter.
Until that point comes, all products are unlicenced and therefore have to conform to the advertising standards as detailed in the ruling.
