appologies in advance for a long winded post

so got home from work today and had mucho vape mail waiting for me . most excited about the kayfun lite plus v2 clone . well its now in the box again !!

never rebuilt before , which leads us to problem 1 . i SUCK at wrapping coils . ok practice will cure that .

2) much fiddlier than it looks on youtube was expecting deck to be bigger . again practice will help here

3) after about an hour , finally had a coil wrapped and reading 1.2 ohms . thought that will do for starters . screwed on the chamber over the wicks , cut them just above the top a la youtube vids and tucked them in . bloody gap is miniscule found that almost impossible .

4 ) back on the ohm meter for a check resistance dropped to 0.2 !!! something very wrong with what im doing . finally managed to fiddle around with recoiling to get it stable and filled . 1.4 ohms . filled it , put it on the nemesis and vaped it . took my bloody head off . tasted like it was being burnt and very harsh. possible wicking issue caused by poor job of stuffing wicks down into channels ?

got fed up and filled the nautilus , put it on the nemesis and vaped it . still nearly took my head off ! so put the nautilus on the caravela , much more bearable although still harsh compared to ego battery .

put kayfun on caravela , still horrible . not so hard as nemesis but awful . conclusion there nemesis hits like a train compared to caravela !

so it must be that im doing a piss poor job of building the kayfun .

what probably isnt helping is that im using 20mg juice , and on top of that i chose the "extra throat hit " option when ordering . for now im sticking with nautilus on caravela until my new "normal" juice arrives , then il have another crack with the kayfun .

meanwhile any tips on how to not build like a total spaz would be greatly appreciated .

Use natural cotton wool. Make your coil, use a 2/2.5 mm drill bit or similar, wrap your wire round that. Once coiled leave drill or what ever in coil. Attach it to kfl. Pull out drill bit. Check ohms.once your happy with ohms reading, take small amount of cotton wool and thread it through coil. Wool should slide through coil. Now cut wool. Cut it so that the cut end just touches the base and does not clog/the fluid channels.soak with juice pushing the wool away from the channels. Make sure the wool is very wet. Re build, fill enjoy

thanks pez . is the cotton wool still good for flavour ? i have to say this method sounds a million times easier to do . il give it a try when the new juice comes .

also probably a dumb question , but are we talking normal cotton wool , ie the sort i can nick off the missus ?

Cotton wool is great for flavour. The cotton has to be natural at the moment I'm using a bag of Johnsons baby cotton balls. Asda and most of the big stores do the baby cotton wool.

just tried making a coil the way you described and oh my god , how much easier is that! only took a couple of mins. came out at 2.3 ohms so maybe 1 or 2 less wraps. il grab some cotton wool tomorrow and try my 1st proper build using the method when my captain custard comes. thanks mate , youve saved me from pulli g out what little hair i got left out

Little tip - When attaching the coil legs to the posts, wrap the wire nearly all the way around so that the leg is almost facing back towards your coil. That way, when you snip off, the ends won't touch the evaporation chamber.
There's not a lot of room between the posts and the chamber and the tiniest bit of sticky out wire at the post can cause a short.

cfc39 - stick with it mate - I promise you WILL get it. How do I know? Because the Kayfun was the atomiser that ended my eighteen months of deep seated hatred for rebuildables.

That said, I haven't got the patience to make coils, so I use pre-made wires. Stealthvape do them here:

Pre Made Resistance - No Resistance Wires x 50

and they are available from 1.5 to 3.6ohm resistance. The big plus with premade wires is that you don't need to work anything out, just coil the middle section around your wick.

If you want a couple to try, drop me your name and address by PM and I'll send some on to you to try. They're higher resistance than you are using, but they might give you an idea?

I can't let you give up on your Kayfun. It makes me sad!

Also, take a lighter and flame your wire.. It takes out the sproingyness and makes it stay in place better when wrapping it
