Keeping core wires parallel?

Tried the stealthvape magnet trick many moons ago, i just wrap the ends together with some high gauge wire and crack on. No swivels.

Wrap a few inches and 'finger' the cores flat, repeat.

On 2 cores i have a sub 1% fail rate, on multicores its prob closer to 5%, def a step up.

Is it worth the fannying required? Flavour n clouds like? Or would my dull taste buds not really notice the extra effort? I've not got past home spun claptons should I aspire to more do you think?

It could work, provided I use exactly the correct measurements for wire. Eg if I want a triple core the final core wires would need to be exactly 1/3 of the original cores size... Then again if you're doing more intricate work like a triple staggered Clapton I doubt you could remove and replace a core without screwing up the spacing.

Just for my own sanity now I've given it a thought already.... Why not twist the bejesus out of the 3 cores and wrap over that? Minor irregular shape I suppose you might answer?

I hear what you're saying, and it could be done that way I guess. I've previously done twisted core claptons and it's not an issue:

I enjoy the building itself, it's not a chore for me. I like to actually make builds and experiment, I'm not looking to cut corners or do some "make-do" builds. If that was the case I'd just smack on a micro build using a coil jig and call it a day.

'Normal' claptons are great, 2 core fused are just bang on, flavour/clouds they're for me the way to go. A lot of it comes down to what you vape at and gauges used. If you like to vape at 25 watts and build a 6 wrap 26/32 fused its going to be a long day, if you like to vape at 35watts upwards then they are much more usable. The higher the gauge the wrap the better the ramp time. Somewhere between 35-40g seem to be the best compromise i've found.

Triple cores i'm not a massive fan of, a 5 wrap 26g cored build ends up at about .2 ish but have a daft ramp time, drop to 28g to raise ohms/reduce ramp and you're close to a 26g dual core build ish,- so are they worth the effort? mmemememmeeeehhhhh why not - when building triple cores you're not building for pratical reasons, your're doing it because you can.

Have a play with the wire wizard/coil calc on steamengine and keep an eye on surface area/heat.

As an altertanive to single core claptons have you tried just doing a 'naked' parallel build. 26g 5 wrap around a 2.5mm bit dual coiled is approx 0.2, uber quick ramp, flavour is ok and 'cloooouds bro'.

Sort of a halfway house between clapton and a fused clapton j suppose lol.

I've tried "naked" parallel and it was nice, to be dead honest my top builds so far (personal preference I know)-

Basic (if I'm lazy/busy):
- spaced standard coil
Gives plenty of flavour and build is real easy.

Mediocre (if I have spare time):
- standard Clapton
If you can be bothered it's not very difficult and the flavour production is fantastic.

Advanced: ??
- :( not good enough yet

Stupid (literally just going full potato and trying something strange):
- I made a triple coil on one strand
it was by far my favourite build. I like I warm vape and flavour needs to be good. This was really bang on for me. Went through several tanks of juice with it and it was brilliant throughout.

I would like to play with builds and experiment, most recently I did Clapton with a stainless steel core (26g) & Nicrome .80 wrap (40g). Was lovely, very smooth & clean taste but it was too "cool" for me. I would recommend for anyone who enjoys a cooler vape. 40g can be a bit of a pain, it's extremely thin but very easy once you get the hang of it.

Try a staged clapton if you use mechs. Plain/clapton parallel with the same core wire. Wrap the coil with one less wrap of plain (so the clapton is on the outside of both ends of the coil). Can be tricky to keep it tidy unless the coil is the same width as your post holes but the plain takes the edge off the ramp-up and you still get almost as good performance as an equivilent fused clapton would in a more powerful regulated mod.

Best way I've found is the old paper clip method. Put it across all of your wires and move it along as needs be

Haven't had much time to myself, will hopefully play around with coils again soon. Thanks for the advice guys much appreciated
