So say ive built a RDA, using a mech mod . . . what the best way to check when I need to charge battery? I suppose this can also be applied to a vv/vw mod too, how can you tell and what to check for?

Easy with regulated mods, they stop before the battery's fully depleted. Mechs don't - though I have a mech pipe that flashes green when the battery's low

Is this the case with all vv/vw devices?

Using a mech, if you start with a fully charged battery you'll notice the voltage drop as it depletes. It just gets less fiery & slows down. You need something to check up on your batteries, i use a multi meter & when they hit around 3.6v, that's it for me, bottom line & i recharge. I can detect it before then though.
You can take them lower but shouldn't go too low so as avoid upsetting the chemical balance of the battery. Once they discharge too much, you can't easily boot them & in theory they're finished. You'll soon recognize it if you use a mech & an rda.

So say its a 3.7 battery, off the charger around 4.0 . . . once it drops to 3.6, you'd charge it? Variable mods can tell you the voltage, but use a multi metre for batteries used in a mech mod?

I only use a mech now, after a few days of usage the vape is easily distinguished by its taste that a new battery is needed.(I mean after a few days to familiarize yourself with the mech, not a few days usage from each battery charge)

So you can taste the difference between a fresh and low battery. Are there any other more definative ways of checking when's to charge a battery. Thanks for the response buddy.

You could always buy an inline voltmeter that shows how much the voltage drops.I did and used it for a couple days before I was familiar with the taste changes.

It's down to experience and use confidence, over time. With a vv/vw device, no probs, the thing will just stop firing when voltage reaches the devices lower limit.
With mechs, when you first start using them, there is nothing wrong with being a tad doubtful and thinking, 'better check the charge' and swap for a fresh battery whenever you fancy. After a couple of weeks of using a mechanical, you get a feel for your batteries, and know that, this 18650 will be OK for most of the day, or this 18350 will be OK for a couple of hours, etc etc. Your brain will remember what your vaping should be like at optimum power, and send you a message of "might as well swap my battery now" well before voltage drops down to the danger zone.
