Hello good people of Planet Of The Vapes.

I currently use a Freemax Maxus Solo and have been recommended a Lost Vape Thelma DNA 100C by a friend. He swears by it but can't actually define why it is better than what I have, he is new to vaping like I am so I'm putting his lack of details to an insufficient relevant vocabulary, as is mine.

What, if any, are the advantages of the Thelma DNA 100C versus my Maxus Solo 100W?

I read that the DNA chipset has a lot of customisation options but I barely play around with the limited options on my current Mod, the one time I did fiddle with it, I burned a coil out instantly (I switched to an option marked TWC to see what it did, the instruction booklet has no information on any of the settings so I'm not touching those again) which has left me reticent to investigate these settings further.

Is the 100C worth spending nearly a ton on?

Whilst DNA equipped mods do have certain benefits, if you just want to set your wattage and vape away then I wouldn't say they're worth it.

If you like the mod then Lost Vape do the non-DNA Thelema Quest, which looks the same and is around half the price.

As @JohnNada said, if you're only vaping in watt mode, there's really no point in having a DNA mod. The Thelema Solo 100 can be bought for £35, and will work just as well for wattage vaping.

DNA mods can be fun, really come in to their own when using Temperature Control. I'd get the non DNA Thelema Solo, your friend probably wouldn't notice the difference :18:

Here's the thing, you're just starting out, without the blessing of clairvoyancy you don't know how your tastes will develop.

If you told me six years ago I'd be mostly using Temperature Control I wouldn't have believed you.

Unless you're using TC, DNA, Yihi and Dicodes are expensive but in the right hands are the best at what they do.

Concurred. Spending the extra on a DNA is only worth it if you need it. The LV Quest's are excellent chipsets in themselves and will suffice 95% of people. Use one as your training wheels for a DNA and see if you like the options.

me totally agree with whats been said above.
out of 50 kits ive got 1 dna. i tried TC mode for two days when it first came out and personally couldnt see the point and as i only use wattage mode so the extra expense will be wasted on options you may never use.

Currently I am using my Mod on 60W. When I switched to TWC (I can't actually find what that is short for, the instructions aren't very... instructional) it said my Mod was set to 200°C (this was the default setting so i didnt think it would cause any harm to the coil) and it burned the coil out with a 1.2 second burn. This wasn't a new coil but it also wasn't old and I had done a decent thermal cycle as described by hack400 to me in my introduction thread.
This was a Freemax FL3 904L X1 Mesh Coil 0.15ohm that burned out. Such a flavourful coil too, quite a bit better than the 0.2ohm that also came with the Fireluke 3 metal tank.

What are the other advantages of DNA mods other than being able to customise the screen information? I watched a video about the setup of the Thelma 100C by Vaping101 but it didn't provide any information about what DNA mods do best or better than non DNA mods.

@Astral I will take your advice and look at the an LV quest Mod. Is the non DNA Lost Vape Thelma included in this category?

I might be developing a problem with vaping products, I can't stop looking at new ones :sinister:

Are you tired of vaping burnt wick? Do you use tanks where you can't see the liquid level? That's where TC comes in. You need a TC capable coil material though. I doubt your coil had those properties.

im so sorry to hear this. it souds like youve picked up the terminal disease which is very contagious which is shinyitis :D
welcome to our world :)

i have no idea what the W stands for but im guessing Temperature W? Control.

i will let someone else explain the main purpous of TC as tbh i have no clue.

edit
the only bit i know is as John mentioned above,
Ti is titanium for TC use only
Ni is nickel for TC use only
SS is stainless steel which can be used in both wattage and TC mode.

Buy once and stay away from shinyitus lol. I learned the hard way and bought loads of mods over the years that all done the same thing so kinda wasted money on them. find something you like and see how long it lasts then when it's time do the same again buy once till the next time
