I've been playing around with a bunch of pre-made coils, I bought probably 15 different types at once when I started and I have a spool of wire on the way.

I would like a guide that talks about wire gauge, coil diameter, wraps, ohms and wattage for regulated builds. I could just build a bunch of different coils but I don't think I'm consistent enough in my builds and wicking to really notice a difference. I can tell a 0.12 vs a 0.80 but not much more. I moved from a 0.8 to a 0.4 in an OBS Engine nano and I'm not sure how noticeable the difference is. Again, my wicking is probably different enough to obscure the difference. I've very much an analytical thinker so I would like some tables and data to try and grasp the concept. I did some searching on google and didn't find anything suitable. Mostly the basics of ohms law and a table for unregulated mods.

I thought I would have a better understanding by now but that hasn't happened. It could be because I frequently swap tanks, coils and juice.

It gives you an idea but use steam-engine

@pancser
I assume this is related to kanthal

(You know what they say about assumption being the brother of all fu##ups)

what difference are you expecting? ... I can't really tell the difference between a 1.4ohm coil and a 1.8ohm coil, all other things being equal. I may put a watt or two more through the 1.4 but it's not like it's going to taste any different.

I was expecting that the difference was obvious to others but I was somehow missing it.

No, there’s not much difference. At the same power, higher resistance will be a bit hotter.

It is a bit confusing to try and guess what type of coil: wire material, wire type, gauge, diameter, wraps, ohms will work best in a specific RTA.

If it's MTL, use kanthal. If it's DTL try SS or Nichrome. Some people actually use Nichrome in MTL too as you will see in some pods and premade coils. It's all down to the target ohms, SS is very hard to try and get high on without excessive wraps. Have a play with steam engine and you will see.
