So, got some vape mail this morning. 28 gauge 0.32mm Kanthal A1 x10m, long nose pliers, 11x jewellers screwdrivers various sizes and tweezers. I've been looking into microcoiling my EVODs with cotton and believe I now have all the gear. Was thinking 8-10 wraps around a 2mm screwdriver. Question is will I find much benefit compared to the stock coils? I am happy with how they vape but have heard that a microcoil with cotton wool will be better. Do the ohms of the coil make much difference when I am using an SVD at about 7watts? For example how differently will a 1.5ohm coil vape compared to a 3ohm coil when used at the same wattage?? Being a beginner I am not sure as I thought that using wattage meant that it didn't matter so much about the ohms on the coil. Help!!!

U'll be looking at about 1.2 ohms and you'll get lot more vapour from that only thing I will say is don't let your cotton wool get dry you'll never get rid of that taste

A higher resistance coil will heat up slower than a low resistance one, that said lower resistances will drain the battery faster. For an SVD about 2ohms is a good target. Cotton microcoils will get rid of a lot of the wicking issues with Evods, once cotton is wet it will usually stay wet until the juice runs out. I personally use nothing but cotton in my Kayfuns...

Just rebuilding an EVOD coil will make a difference. The thickness of the wick appears to be the trick with an EVOD. Chucking the flavour wick and getting the thickness of the wick just right will allow enough liquid through to create clouds but not too much that your tank floods, get this balance right and you'll notice a good improvement. 2mm wicking is ideal and I manipulate mine a bit, because I'm extra like that. Anyway I have tweaked mine to work a treat, micro or not.

Cotton can feed liquid to the coil faster allowing you to push your device further for more vapour/flavour. It also makes better contact to the coil. It is very difficult by its very nature to make a cotton wick on micro coil too loose or tight. I'm guessing it will perform well but will be a bit tricky to recoil and tweak (small chamber/wicking grooves and I have JCB diggers for fingers!). I only use cotton micro coils (1.5-1.8Ohms) on my drippers and they work a charm.

Let us know how you get on

I have plenty of wire and plenty of cotton so will be able to do lots of experimenting. Will be giving it a try in the morning. I tried a micro coil last week with .20 wire and it came out as 3.3ohms so things can only get better! Rip trippers vids will be getting a blasting this weekend that's for sure. Thanks for your advice.

Gonna be trying this myself soon, do these work as well on an ego style battery as long as you get it wound in the right resistance?

Pride - fall.

One minute I'm extolling my genius at microcoiling and cotton wicking the Taifun while exhaling massive clouds - the next tears were rolling down wife's face as I lay spluttering on the floor spitting gobfulls of hot liquid.

Atomiser 1 - 0 Knobhead

Note to self: put on all available lights and use a sensible quantity of cotton.

I love .3 micros. I hate being stupid.

Let that be a lesson to us all - You're never too experienced to cock it up good and proper...

Well apart from me, cause I'm perfect I am, just ask anyone - I walk through the door and everyone says "Oh, perfect!"...:lol1:

I believe the standard eGo batteries are 3.7v so they will work fine. I'll be using my evods on an eGo Twist when I'm out the house. Think I'll be aiming for 1.5-1.8ohm microcoils for use with the Twist and slightly higher for with my SVD.
