Hi everyone

I am beginning to think about mixing my own liquid but I am just REALLY confused. Right I understand I need a VG, PG, NIC and flavour plus the bottles etc however I am seeing a lot of VG/PG with nic in..... So if I purchased the pg or VG with nic in how would I use the mixing calculator or am I just being a complete idiot? I only want to mix menthol and maybe fruit! Not sure what base liquids I need to be purchasing?!?!?

Hi Booboo, I haven't actually mixed anything yet as I'm waiting for my first parcel of ingredients to arrive, but I can give you my noob take on this mixing business.
I've ordered a bottle of 54mg VG-based nic, plus 100ml each of PG and VG to mix up a 75%/25% PG/VG base, and then some flavourings to experiment with. I'm using the online calculator at Cloud9 Vaping - sorry, writing this on my phone so can't add links easily, but it's on the right-hand side of their homepage. I'm sure someone will bang up a link for me!
It's quite easy to use - what I did was to tinker with the percentages etc. as if I was mixing a juice up, and then see how much of each ingredient I would need, and then made my purchase on this basis.
I'm a complete klutz with maths, so having a calculator like this is a Godsend for me!
Hope this helps!
Andy

Hi Boo, Im like Andy new to this also, I am new to mixing myself, and to keep things simply for me, I didnt worry about what the flavour was based in so if the flavour was PG or VG based then I disregarded it in the calculator, you may find you have to add a few drops more or less here and there for your own taste, but from my early experiences, flavours like menthol and certain fruits are pretty strong, so I found I put less in after a few experiments.

I know the hardcore and well experienced mixers will disagree with what I have just said, but as when your new to something its best to keep it simple until your well into making your own brews, then you can make it as easy or as complex and in depth as you like.Happy mixing.

It is illegal and also highly dangerous to sell 100% nicotine so it comes suspended in either vg or pg. most if us use 54mg pg and mix it down. We have our own calculator at the top of the page so you just have to input you required nicotine level and the mg of the one you are using and it works it out for you. I use vg for my liquids but use pg based Nic. You can buy it in various strengths but it will always come mixed in either pg or vg :)

BooBoo1982 have a look at juice.breakthru.com. This is the calculator I use most often. It looks a bit daunting, but it's fine - it also comes supplied with free recipes and is free to download and use.

With regard to your bases and mixers, have a look at cig-eliquid.co.uk, they do small bottles of each which may be of use rather than a bigger bottle to start with?

Sorry I can't link directly to the bits and pieces I have mentioned, but I'm in my tablet, and I am still getting used to where the buttons are!

This is totally a confidence thing me thinks and I totally lack in the department.... however I kind of know where to go now! I do like the calculators think these will be my Holy Grail!!!

I think on friday when 'ubby get paid I shall crack on and order some "stuff" and just see how I get on!... I am pretty sure this has been covered like a gazillion times peeps so I appreciate the time you've taken to help me out!!! I shall let you know how I get on (providing I don't poison myself)

Mixing for the first time is scary, but once you've done it once you'll wonder what you were worried about :) its great fun and very satisfying to vape something you've made yourself! Plus once you've got the bits it works out so much cheaper. I mixed up a load last night and my most expensive bottle was 49p for 10ml and the cheapest was 27p :D

hopefully not too far of ot , anyone know if there is a kit for mixing which has all the bits and juices to get started at this mixing game ??
