If someone like Ethelking has given you a recipe (and he is a bit of an RY-4 expert with his own legendary mix) then I'd presume he specifed the concentrates to use - because RY-4s vary in strength and taste quite a lot. As for "RY4 is 50% of the flavour" - how can you possibly know (unless this is the final effect you are aiming for on your taste buds)? I can cite two Apple flavours: Wera Garden Bahraini Apple Gold - which came out amazingly rounded and finished at 2.3% and PA Apple - which was insipid and disappointing at 20%. If I stated that Apple was 50% of the flavour I would be using I would need to be very specific about the brand and variety.
Capella and Tino D'Milano are highly polished finished concentrates - designed to be simple to mix up a final vape that is quite delicious using just that concentrate - anything else done to it is just a bit of tweaking to personal tastes. These finished 'ready to go' concentrates will bring a lot of other things to the party with them - that you may or may not want in your final mix if you are putting 3-4 flavours together. The simple way to deal with that is mix the Capella or Tino D'Milano up first and let it steep out. If you added e.g. Capella Vanilla Custard concentrate together with an apple concentrate into some diluted nicotine base, the result might be dissapointing. If you first mixed up some Vanilla Custard, let it steep, mixed some apple vape, let it steep and then mixed these together (e.g. put a small amount of apple vape into a bottle and drop by drop added the finished vanilla custard vape into that) - chances are you'd end up with a good apple and custard vape.
Sometimes when mixing just adding several flavour concentrates together into diluted base, strange things happen (I am still working up my Ms Cool's Lippy Kisses because of this - strange things happened several times). PA's Waffle is a good case - add it as a concentrate and add anything else to it and it gets lost, Mix and steep it first and it survives.
On concentrates, I would never start mixing them without first trying the individual flavours and letting them steep. The strength of concentrates can vary hugely as can the flavours (I still haven't started my group Vanilla test - but the range, finish and strength varies massively). A good start point is the manufacturers recommended dilution (Capella state this, Inawera state this, FA do on some). Then adjust. It is also wise to try a few flavours together first - if you mix up the 4 constituent parts first and use the dropping method (take careful notes) to combine these (a) your experiments will be cheaper (b) the chances of ending up with a largeish quantity of Frankenjuice are diminished. I hope this helps. But there is virtually zero chance of getting a bad mix in using just one Capella or Tino D'Milano flavour on its own - which is why these are sooooooo good
Damn! I've just realised that the recipe might not print out the manufacturer of the liquids in the RY4 recipe. Hansen RY4 - everything else is Perfumerers Apprentice.
I am aiming for 18mg I think I have ordered a Capella flavour?! Can't remember though! Well I am sure I will end up doing another order fairly soon!!! Ekkkk I am a little excited now!
