Mod explosion causes serious leg injuries

I quote: The shop that sold the device blamed the wrong batteries for the explosion.

Hence my original reaction.

You clearly have more information which I am sure you will gladly share with us.

We all know these devices can be dangerous and that the MSM can be full of bollocks but it's quite possible the device was faulty or being incorrectly used not allowing the batteries to vent safely or any of the other issues that can occur with a mech.

If that was the only statement the shop had for the press than that's poor form, if they gave a far more detailed statement then they should be seeking redress up to and including the PCC.

That isn't the only statement the shop had for the press.

We are talking about 'The Sun' here - hardly a bastion of professional integrity. They selected the one quote they wanted.

Fair enough, then they should be raising a complaint with the Press Complaints Commission ASAP for inaccurate reporting / reporting out of context.

And don't forget The Telegraph - a bastard of professional integrity.

Its a statement of fact though.

Metal tubes don't blow up.

There aren't steel stores with fucking massive walls and very thin roofs, because stainless brass and copper really isn't capable of blowing up.

Cells do though.

The twat who published the report simply chose not to publish all that was said. Or the fact that they were invited for a thorough explanation.

Because that explanation changes the story from "ecig blows mans leg off" to "man suffers accident as a result of human error/incompetence".

You raised an extremely pertinent point in your previous post that I didn't have a chance to comment on as a server has been playing up this morning at work.

You mentioned about the cell expanding inside the mod with a top venting cell, and that switch venting was useless in this instance.

Personally, I normally use the battery in my Stingray clone upside down, so that is fine, but I use the nemmy clone kicked and that will not vent.

Additionally, my Sigelei 30W is also vulnerable to this issue, so I am going to have to get the drill out and drill some vent holes, in an expensive device that should already be properly vented.

I do have sympathy for him, however I will lay odds that this was not caused by a fault with the device itself but rather by user error.

I also take issue with the sensationalist "Legs blown off" headline.
It is true that he sustained a serious and potentially life threatening injury but saying he nearly had his legs blown off is over playing it to make a good sensationalist headline, as usual.

Pretty much every case of injury or fire I have come across has been a result of user error and inexperienced users with full mechanical mods are always going to be at higher risk than the majority.

How many laptop, phone, tablet etc. battery fires have there been this year I wonder, they don`t seem to grab headlines for some reason.

Yesterday I believe

I don't hold out much hope for him to sue for injury......He doesn't have a leg to stand on.....
