What's new

More Lung Horror

For the new vapers out there that have joined and read these crap articles think of this first.
How many vapers are there here in the UK and world wide and how long has vape been around.
For me it will be 5 years in February and some a lot longer.
We've gone through hundreds of thousands of litres of vape juice amongst us from the UK and America.
We've gone through the dreaded dicetyl popcorn lung fiasco where a couple of massive American vape companies had lawsuits against them through shear panic brought about by the press.
Then think how many people in all those previous years have died, been in coma, had their knob drop off, none ziltch, nada fek all.

Then 200 teens become unwell within 3-4 weeks of each other
and once again vape in general is blamed and the let's ban it brigade start shouting from the rooftops again.

So upto 3 million vape in the UK alone and millions more around the world that have been vaping for years don't hardly get colds anymore but people are still panicking from the scaremongering press and false American research studies that are mostly debunked a few weeks later.

What I'm trying to say is look past the latest scaremongering and think how many millions are happily vaping with no side effects.
Then make your mind up.

I beleive that the latest outbreak in the states was due to people ising a product from a company called Dank Vapes who were supposedly supply a THC vape. From reports I have read it seems that instead of THC the vapes contained a form of Spice.

Also apparently, Dank Vapes isn't actually a company...

Or it might be, nobody seems to know.

There is a copyright holder for the logo, but that protection is only for the design on merchandise, not on vape gear or liquid.

I do know you can buy DV branded packaging on Amazon for pennies though.

Another death, this time linked to a legal pot shop

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Public health officials in Oregon said Wednesday that a person who recently died of a severe respiratory illness had used an electronic cigarette containing marijuana oil from a legal dispensary, the second death linked to vaping nationwide and the first tied to a vaping product bought at a pot shop.

Officials have not determined what sickened the middle-aged adult, whether the product was contaminated or whether they may have added something to the liquid in the device after buying it, said Dr. Ann Thomas with the Oregon Health Authority.

Thomas declined to name the brand of the product or the dispensary during the investigation and said it’s the only case of vaping-related illness or death in Oregon that authorities know about.

What’s the current death toll in the UK directly linked to vaping? Would it be correct to say that it’s ZERO? It’s not that complicated really - some cannabis products aren’t suitable for vaping.

"it does almost scare me back to cigs"

Seriously???

I had a serious mouth cancer scare and it scared me so much I was like "well that's it, I was stupid to smoke and ignore warnings and now I'm f***ed". Sent me into all kinds of panic. Thankfully it was ok but I'll certainly not be scared to go back to those disgusting cigs. F*** tobacco.

I think what people need to realise is that us, as humans inhaling anything other than natural pure oxygen can't be a good thing. But that's something we can't avoid in our world today, car pollution, roadworks, neighbours burning fire pits and/or rubbish, there's unnatural toxins in the air everywhere. Non smokers/vapers are exposed to harmful things every day.

Now we know Smoking is bad, it's been proven over and over, I used to smoke heavy, and my body felt a mess when on ciggs. I went off ciggs completely, and turned to vaping. I noticed an improvement in my overall health within a couple weeks, been vaping 4 years now. I always have my vape with me, and admit I do chain vape, and have done since the start. The first 3 years I was very Pro vape, no issues, I make my own liquid, I have used the same ACRY4 Double flavor all this time, with a 50/50 PG VG mix, and 18mg Nic.

Over the past year though I do feel discomfort in my chest, it does feel like my "lungs hurt" and do get shortness of breathe similar to when I smoked. I notice phlegm buildup at the back of my throat, and whilst this could be attributed to 1000s of things, I lean towards my vaping being the culprit. I know many here are pro vape, and without a doubt these news articles scaremonger, but to believe there are no issues, minor, or big, with vaping is a little naive IMO. Whilst my first post, I have been a lurker for awhile, and got great info on this site over time. I plan to quit vaping cold turkey as a new years resolution for 2020, not because of the news articles, simply because I "feel" it's having a negative affect on my body now, again, it may not be vaping, but I'll see how I feel after quitting.

I think another thing us vapers need to admit to ourselves, whilst there's no conrete evidence vaping causes illness or worse, there's no evidence to say it doesn't! We are all pretty much vaping blind, this is still a new craze in the grand scheme, nobody...literally nobody knows the long term health implications of vaping, good....or bad.
