I am struggling with my purge tube mod, i can't get the "button housing"? If that's what it's called to thread in nice and smooth like it used to.
It does go in and create a contact but it's taking a lot of effort. (And I mean a lot)

I have tried wd40, I have had cotton wool with diluted washing up liquid on the threads of the mod, on the button housing and degrimed it quite a bit, but still no, sticking something Rotten

Any advice, alcohol? Vaseline?

Other option is buy a new one? But where from

Fwiw the mod width is 31 mm, and the smaller part of the thread is 25mm, so say 26 on the button housing

3 in 1 oil - apply a few drops to BOTH threads (or any motor oil), rotate so a little oil coats the entire thread.. Screw in A LITTLE, unscrew, rinse and repeat. Go an extra turn each time.

Wipe the mod clean afterwards, but LEAVE A LIGHT COAT OF OIL ON THE THREADS. And don't overtighten when assembling.

(and be carful not to cross-thread the bugger...)

Peek polish. Don't use oil, that's just stupid.

Try looking at the recommendations for maintaining the threads on AV Mods...

If you're trying to force threads to re-cut, polish may do it but oil will also lubricate which makes life easier.

Always used Servisol switch cleaner. Great stuff.

The insert is not metal, it's plastic/delrin /whatever. The brass button then fixes to that (it screws/bolts in)

So I guess you mean, using the insert with polish to recut/refine the threads
Which I then assume is a no as not metal to metal?

Shintaro, I don't think so, and if it is I don't want to know lol

Fwiw I feel the mod is right but I don't know about the button

Anyway, oil ain't working

So a thought popped into my head, worked perfect in winter, but getting problematic in warm weather, especially last 2 days.
Also its my favourite mod, hits instantly, so I leave it in my truck while I am on site. It is red hot when I get back in.
Maybe the 2 different threaded materials are expanding differently? So I bobbed it I the fridge for 10 see what happens

I assumed you meant you were having problems screwing a brass housing into a brass tube,

The only Purge Mod I have with a plastic insert that screws into a button is an Enforcer - but the threaded part is a brass pin that goes through the plastic so everything that screws together is brass.

Can you post a pic to clarify which parts are difficult to thread because there are a lot of different Purge mods.
