Hello guys, that's my first post in here after reading countless post for the last half a year!

Being hones I have problems with building my own set ups. I have Geekvape Avocado 24 Bottom airflow and SMOK Prince RBA and I had no luck with building in them for last week. I literally tried every combination of cotton and three different coils - no luck. There is little to no flavour compared to my stock Q4 coil which tastes lovely! Can you please tell me what I'm doing wrong? Here are some pictures of my latest build which I think is the best but still far from decent:

Thank you!

How tight is your cotton through the coils? I’ve not used this rba before, but in general if the cotton is tight through the coils it can often mute the flavour a bit. Hopefully someone with experience of the smok will be along with advice.

As for the avocado, I used to have the 22, and found it very good on flavour. Try a single coil build and block the other side with the ceramic thing, and do t have too much cotton through the deck. You want to cut it about level and just have it sitting over the holes, not pushed right through them.

I'm pulling enough cotton to slightly move the coils, just a little wiggle when I'm pulling it through.

I would say that’s too much, with those big coils. I use thin 30awg single wire, and wick it so there is a little resistance, but not enough for the coils to move even with this very thin wire. Try less cotton. Bear in mind I use low power, tight airflow gear which is a bit different. But it has to be worth a try.

Its a low build 0.09 maybe need more watts to get those coils going. Have you any wire you can try.

ive been building for about 3 years but only recently discovered that the "fluffing" out stage is rather important
its not so much that it fluffs out your wick at each end but more it removes cotton that you dont need/want
instead of calling it fluffing they should've called it teasing
try teasing/fluffing the wick ends with a pin,you will have to retrim the ends when you done because of all the straggly bits
it seems to leave nuf cotton in the coil so it dont collapse and yet still be able to wick fast

hope that helps

Thanks for replies, I've tried less cotton and it seems to be working, only caviar is that it started to leak :D I do have two extra wires but they worked waaay worse, one is stock from RBA and the other Vaping Outlawz Dragon skin.

0.09 will need lots of power. Less wick more power. I didn't know the smok alien could fire below 0.1

I think it goes as low as 0.005 but someone else needs to confirm it.

Update: I'm able to get some flavour out of it. Just need to practice a bit more as it either leaks or wicks just from one side.
I think the solution might be the new coli which I got today, it glows beautifully and it's way easier to wick and play with.

I can't see the photo, but for the Smok RBA 0.09 is miles off what I would use, just normal Clapton Kanthal wire works a treat, aim for around 0.20 to 0.30 oHms build if you want better flavour than the Q4 coil, the other thing is not to choke the juice wells which was my mistake on my first few builds, fluff the ends out so they are bot too tight.

The coils that come with the prince RBA were pretty good and ideal to copy, it's also best to space them.

When you get it right you will get more flavour than the Q4 coils.

There's a few good youtube vids on coiling and wicking the Prince RBA that are worth watching, I learned the basics on there.
