What's new

No luck in building RDTA and RBA

I thin out just the ends to snugly fit into wicking holes
dont make it right. The popping is air going in the space. When thinning the cotton take of the loose parts. Watch some wicking videos on YouTube. I find people like Mike Vapes, Zophie and RipTrippers generally show how to do it well

Difference being on a mech you cannot set the wattage to 79w like you can on a Smok. The battery voltage dictates the power along with the resistance. A .09 build with freshly charged battery will be putting out 196w and drawing 46 amp.
Doh! I don't use mech mods, I am so used to regulated it gives you tunnel vision when working out battery loads with a set wattage!

I think it goes as low as 0.005 but someone else needs to confirm it.

Update: I'm able to get some flavour out of it. Just need to practice a bit more as it either leaks or wicks just from one side.
I think the solution might be the new coli which I got today, it glows beautifully and it's way easier to wick and play with.
Its all about wicking mate. You can use pretty much and gauge wire or exotic wires and if its not wicked right it will leak/dry hit etc.... I'd buy a cheap clone RDA and spend a evening or 2 wicking and re wicking with the same type/diameter as your putting in you RDTA and RTA mate.
Took me a few weeks of practising every other day to learn how to get it just right and i still fuck up, been using RDAs for about 2years strictly now.

No worries dude. It's an easy mistake to make if you don't use mechs. Especially with the ohms law calculators where you just have to input any two sets of figures like wattage and resistance.

When calculating for a mech you always input the resistance of the build and the voltage from a fully charged battery - 4.2v.

Yeah I only use RDAs and still sometimes use too much or not enough and I sometimes bdrip too much which can make a mess of your clothes.

Being honest, after trying everything the best flavour I can get is decent, in that case I decided to buy a new RTA, can you recommend me something please? I was thinking about Kylin RTA. Cheers!

if you're having issues wicking with an RDA then you may run into issues with an RTA. Have you watched any wicking videos on youtube which may help you get it right?. It took me 4 or 5 goes to get my wicking right at first and I still fuck up sometimes and I have been vaping for 14 months now

Rdtas are extremely difficult to wick well even for experienced builders. Anybody can wick an rdta but to wick it so that it functions well takes a lot of experience and practise. There are many experienced vapers who have been building for a long time who still really struggle to build an rdta and have it function consistently well. I think the best thing you can do is to move away from rdtas. I wouldn't recommend then to anyone that wasn't an experienced and competent and confident builder. Some rtas can be tricky to wick but nowhere near the lever of rdtas. The Kylin is very good, as it the Manta. If you want single coil then the Crius2 or the Zeus.
