Please help appologies for the essay but i hope it clears most of the questions

Hi guys, im new to vaping probably a month in now from quitting smoking

I have been rocking a SMOK alien 220w starter kit with a tfv8 baby beat tank on top.

Been using zap lychee lemonade e juic 70/30 VG/PG and vaping at 70watts which the coil states best vaped 60-80w on the tank and it vapes awesome!

Recently bought all the ingredients to make DIY juice and upgraded my setup to a reuleaux RX200 mod with a Geekvape avocado on top after reading reviews and watching videos ive heard this is a decent rdta for me to start my wicking career on :) so i built a single coil 24 gauge kanthal 8 wrap about 0.7 ohms it is running at and ive wicked it just covering the tank holes not sat deep inside . The holes have a sufficient gap to the side to let air escape as i guess this is good practice?

I will try attach an image of the deck on this

I am happy my setup is on point

My issue is that i followed the guide on makemyvape.co.uk for mixing a 50ml batch of rhubard and custard flavour from p&b gourmet flavours on their website.

It even states 10-15% is recommended percentage of flavour which i used 15

So i mixed it . Let it air out with the lid off for around 12 hours and then put the lid on and put in my drawers in dark place for a further 4 days to steep!

Upon juicing the wicks and then filling the tank i started to vape it and the harsh throat hit almost like i was smoking a stupid strong tobacco roll up?? It is also a 70/30 vg/pg mix with designed 3mg of nicotine so how can the taste be so disgusting? I can barely stomach it so i am going to buy some juice from a local vape shop tomorrow to test this theory that its just bad juice not the coil

However if i followed the figures the calculator on makemyvape said to follow is there a reason it can be so bad its really put me off and i also tried the juice on my old smok alien tank and it still tasted like shit!

Any recommendations would be great guys? Please help a noob look forward to comments hopefully

Can you post the amounts you used for each ingredient, someone asked the same question today at the Manc meet - turns out he'd mis-entered a figure on the calculator...

I'm no e juice guru, literally just started mixing my own.

With you using two mods and tanks, and with my job background you've done something wrong or the/one of the components is wrong.

Remix it, if you've done something wrong youve measured something wrong or miscalculated.

I'm sure someone with more experience will come along and help, but I suggest rechecking the recipe, use accurate scales or medical grade syringes, recheck your maths with the flavour and nic.

Don't give up, I've made some lovely juices, knowing nothing at all.

Thanks i did check the calcs and triple
Checked them for days before the stuff arived from my calculations 7.5ml of juice would be correct for a 15% dose on 50ml batch :/ its gotta be a steeping issue i reckon maybe it just needs to steep for a few weeks there was no recommended steeping time on the website they only show steeping times for recipes involving more than 1 flavour mix :/

@CaseySkillz - you could always try just vaping a little of the 70/30 3mg base without any concentrate just to eliminate that as the cause of the harshness. If that isn't the source of the harshness then its either that you got your figures wrong when you mixed, or it might just be that you hate that concentrate...some flavours taste harsh to some folk but not to others. I always get massive throat hit from vapes with koolada in, even at small amounts. I can only vape koolada type juices in very short bursts coz I do enjoy them now and again, its just they feel harsh on my delicate l'il throat :)

Your NIc level is very wrong, I just mixed a 100ml batch of lemon refresher @ 3mg, the 3mg mix only requires 4.2ml of 72mg/ml nic per 100ml batch, I make your mix about 12mg strength...

Unless it's my drunken state, I can't see where his/her nic % is stated, but I reckon you're right!

Although with a 18% nic base the volumes look about right for 3%?
