One million people in England vape despite never having smoked regularly

Nobody ever smoked before they started. So now a million people use vapes who didn't smoke before so this is a tragedy which must be addressed.

I see no reason why a vape can't be considered an alternative to smoking instead of purely a smoking cessation device.

It's all bollocks. if it is such a problem it should be banned completely along with smoking. So when it comes to smoking things will change so people born after a certain date will never be able to buy tobacco products legally, this means there will be zero impact now and, more to the point, this brave new future doesn't affect todays tobacco tax receipts. Business as usual.

People experiment, particularly young people, and 'how healthy is this' has never been their concern. Now they vape - but they aren't smoking which they probably would have done if vapes weren't available as they would have experimented with tobacco products instead. I'm not sure how bad this actually is - I'm certain it's not a good thing, but I suspect it isn't as bad as if the same million took the smoking option.

I see articles like these are being churned out to serve the purpose o justifying future vape product taxes and the cynic in me believes that once the tax receipts start flooding in we won't see anywhere near as many articles like this and the funding for the anti-vape brigade will mysteriously dry up.

It's an interesting one. I wonder how many people in the UK Vape CBD liquids & CBD Disposables. I would like to see those numbers.

Totally agree with your comment regarding vaping is not just a cessation tool to stop smoking. It's a far better alternative to smoking so I see no problem if someone who's never smoked wants to take up vaping.

Nope.

Think the only option now is to ban sales everywhere except official vape shops that care about their business and we're most prob also vapers.
Ban all the (lets make a quick buck and don't give a shit who we sell too) corner shops, petrol stations, popup phone repair who all sell vapes.
Has anyone heard of a licenced vape shop being raided yet and found to sell fakes or high NIC or have all of them been sweet shops and alike.

There is no requirement to have a licence to sell vapes so there are no licenced vape retailers but I believe a retail licencing scheme is included in the Tobacco and Vapes Bill.

As for studies most of them should be viewed with a sceptical eye as many seem only to justify the intended outcome of those undertaking such studies.

If flavours are limited to let's say tobacco, mint & menthol, then there isn't going to much point in vape shops anymore, so most will go...

Big Tobacco would then end up controlling most of the vape market via corner shops, petrol stations, and supermarkets.

Totally understand that mate but it's these corner shops that are causing the problems in the first place and only interested in profit so will sell to anyone. If they could rethink this backy and mint flavour only and make sales only from vape shops it would lower all the kiddy winkles from getting hold of them, except of course from the black market which is rife now and got a foothold in the door so once banned it's the likes of us who will suffer while all the dodgy dealing will continue with all the flavours we have now.
