Hi. I am Jo. Been smoking and quitting, alternately (more smoking than not), for several decades now. While in a quitting phase a few years ago, I came across these e-cigs. Bought one cheap through a Groupon deal but the vapour was very weak although taste was good (much like real baccy taste). I then bought a different kind, and while it had plenty of vapour, it tasted absolutely foul. Actually made me feel sick. I then bought a 3rd e-cig which had both decent vapour and taste but packed up within weeks.
I have recently decided to quit the rollies again and am searching for something a little more reliable. it's the cost that concerns me though, as a 'roll your own' kinda gal, I really don't spend much. A 50g pouch will last me a week. I don't really know where to start with all these different e-cigs. Is it better to buy a 'fill your own' cartridge with purchased flavours rather than buy a normal e-cig with set flavour, no variable vapour etc? What do all the abbreviations mean? (eg/ Evods, Mods, Ego etc) and what are; coils, ohms, etc...and it is better to have an auto or manual battery?
I am a laaaaydeee and want a laydee ciggie, not something too big and manly that looks like a missile launcher.

Can anyone explain the basics to me in a simple-to-understand way? Einstein apparently said "If you can't explain something simply, you don't know it well enough" - something like that. I have done a spot of reading but it's all new to me and seems a bit overwhelming at the moment.
Thanks :D

Hi midnight and welcome to the for! Click on the wiki link up top....there's a lot of good info there for you to read at your leisure including a dictionary of all the new terms you will learn!

We've done some pages showing different devices as well.

Ask away any questions...the members here are more than happy to help!

Nope, its fine where it is :)

Firstly welcome to the Planet, you have come to the right place, and we will do everything possible to help you out :)

Firstly, I would go for a eGo type battery, they are just a little bigger than a cigarette, and more heavy. You certainly cant go around with it just hanging out of your mouth!

They come in all different colours, patterns and sizes are defined by the size of the battery. The most common sizes are 650mAh, 900mAh and 1100mAh, and rule of thumb is 100mAh per hour.

You can also get ones that you can adjust the voltage, but for now, just stick with a standard eGo that produces 3.7volts.

Now onto the tank/head/atomiser (This is what contains the juice) I would throughly recommend Kanger eVods, and they produce the best flavour and vapour for the price, and look really nice on top of the battery. The heads can last anything between a few days and a few weeks, and I find on average I go through a head every couple of weeks. The heads screw in, and can be purchased separately.

They key to all of this though, is getting the right strength of juice, and I am assuming if 50g of tobacco lasted you a week, you would of been on about 20 a day, and therefore would recommend between 12 to 18mg Nic strength.

Also think about getting a second battery, so if anything happens to the first, or its on charge, you have a spare.

Now especially if you get your baccy from Dodgy Dave down the pub, it will set you back about £8 a week. Now for a decent setup with a couple of batterys & eVods, and some spare heads and some juice, you will have change out of £50, but you will see payback in a few weeks, as the only thing left to buy is the liquid, and at under £3 a bottle for some decent liquid (10ml) that will last approx 5 days you will soon see your money back and your health improve.

Further down the line you can create and mix your own juice at a fraction of the price, and re-coil your heads for pennies, but you need to 'walk before you run'.

Yay another female vaper in bedfordshire-I'm not the only one anymore! I'm in leighton buzzard-where are you?

:welcome1: to POTV, you have been given some fantastic advice already, nothing I can add... :D

Hi and welcome :)

Once you learn the basics its great fun and I bet you will have a "rocket launcher" in your hand before you know it lol

Hi Jo. One would be most welcome here. :)
I have evey confidence that you can kick the rollies, I did. As Andy has already mentioned, an ego kit would be a good choice.
