Also snapseed is worth trying. You have to go to settings in the first instance to set the values for export (e.g. 800px max is a good size for posting online). Once set up, each time you just choose a photo, it's one click to export it.

Most phones will allow you to resize after selecting edit.

I've hunted through the settings on my Google pixel phone but can't find resize in the photo editor

How to google pixel reduce image size. To resize a picture without any applications, open Google Chrome and search for "resize pixel." Upload the picture, choose the desired width and height, and click on the "resize" button. Finally, download the resized image.

Oh nice. I didn't realise you could do that. And I was surprised that you couldn't. But it's hidden away a bit.

Gallery App => View Image => Edit (pencil icon)

Then in the top right corner click on the 3 dots, top right (next to links that say revert/save). A menu will drop down with Resize on it.
