Priming Problem

Apologies guys I mean 80vg, 6mg. Took the advice given to me on here even though it's half the nicotine mg I'm used to. Genuinely at a loss here as what to do. I have tried all the advice given here, the advice from my local shop and spent about 2 hours online tonight trying figure out what to do. It was working fine until I had to change the coil, now no amount of priming or different liquids makes a difference. The juice I used previously wicked fine and didn't burn my throat at all. Only way I can describe the taste I'm getting is how burning overalls smell, which I'm assuming is the coils lighting.

Hi Matt, I'm new around here & only been vaping about 5 months, but from your posts, I think I had an easy route into this compared.
I think the machine you got given wasn't such an easy starting place for a 1st mod. As far as nicotine goes, I thought I needed max strength, I had been smoking over 40 years, started 12ml, went up to 18ml contrary to advice, next down to 6, now things were getting enjoyable, recently dropped to 3ml and it's definitely a smoother better experience and I haven't noticed any nic craving, zero
My first mod was an Innokin Kroma A with a Zenith mouth to lung tank with factory coils & they need minimum priming, just a tadge in the wick holes and leave installed in a full tank for 10 - 15 mins and it's perfect.
I use high VG ( 70-80 vg ) In both my machines and it's a good mix, with a good machine you should get good flavour even though high VG & decent cloud.
Don't be put off, it will settle down and cost wise, you can do this on the cheap, lots of good low price juice around once you find decent supplies and there are also lots of second-hand kit. You just got to find the right combo's.
And as a final point, I don't have any experience with Smok but you do see a lot of haters.

I'd like to agree with you but I can't lol this is my second mod since boxing day. As for nicotine I was kinda hoping to go from 12 to 18 before I started having issues with it due to constantly using it whenever I wanted to smoke. Im getting through up to 30ml at 12mg daily and the batteries (18650s If I remember correctly) are usually getting swapped out just after midday. Whereas friends using similar mods with the same batteries claim to be able get a pair last over a day, they also are using them at wattages I can't even inhale without coughing.

I'm hesitant to buy more mods/tanks/coils etc due to how much they cost and how easily they seem to be failing. The smok I was using tasted ok, was smooth to inhale, even though people advise me that 70pg will burn my throat which I never experienced and seemed to be stopping my urge to smoke.

I'm hoping I can figure it out and that like you say the cost does come down. If I can get my vaping costs down to what I was spending on cigarettes Il be more than happy. As it stands this past month has cost me the same as 2 and half months of smoking and now I'm smoking again.

It may be easier if we start at the beginning.
Correct me if im wrong but you are running a smok alien mod with a prince tank with tfv12 coils?
Start by making sure the mod is set to wattage mode and set to "medium" out of the soft, medium, and hard settings.
Once set up, fire the mod without the atty on.
Prime a new coil as usual.
Then screw the atty on and press fire.
When it asks you if its a new coil select yes wether it is or not.
Now youre ready.
Set the wattage at 10 below the lowest rating of the coil.
Try it pulling in air as hard as you can puff.
Up the wattage a few at a time till you find where it performs best for you.

Yeah the mod setup is exactly what you've said and I've done the same sequence 4 times. On the 3rd attempt I did as you wrote above and left overnight to soak before I fired it due to failed previous attempts.

I tried to work my way up in wattage from 20w i which is 20 below the recommended watts in 2w increments. Nothing happened until 36w where the first sign of anything happening was the burnt taste. No vapour on exhale.

On my most recent attempt I did the same again, but pierced the cotton with a pin as advised to try and get it to soak more and was left for roughly an hour after taking some dry hits. Once again nothing other than the burnt taste and the urge to be sick between the coughing.

Really do appreciate you all trying help me figure this out btw.

No worries Matt, there is personal taste here as well. It's a shame to see someone struggling as there is a chilled easy going method, you just got to find the right stuff & technique for you. But well done on your progress so far, stick with it!

I did do today, the guy I had it off is a work colleague. Told him the every step of the priming I had done, and that it had been left overnight to soak before firing. He had one small pull on it and said the coil was burnt.

He said that some coils can be faulty before they're even used but the chances of them all being bad is extremely unlikely. The only luck I seem to have is bad but surely there can the that many faulty coils being shipped out? Ratio currently stands at 4:1, bad:Good.

Might not be a bad plan, come back to the Smok.
Grab an MTL maybe. I would def recommend the Kroma A / Zenith.
