PRODUCT RECALL! Trustfire Chargers TR-001

Right, I usually am on the side of the 'vendor' here, and I appreciate how difficult it is to trade in this economic climate, but I am truly astounded at the lack of action from vendors that stock this product. Irrespective of wether its genuine or fake, there is a recall (albeit in France) and action needs to be taken to protect the consumer. The email to Blackhack is abhorrent to say the least.

If I was a vendor stocking this product, I would be making my customers sure of the potential issues, and replace them as soon as physically possible.

Before anyone flames me, I am not talking of vendors on here, as I trust them, but if I can get 10-20 spam messages a week from second rate vendors trying to sell their wares, where is my safety emails.

Things like this really boil my piss :(

I've bought 3 Nitecore charges both the i2 and the i4 all from an excellent UK vendor and have had continual problems with all 3 of them. Either the Efest batteries get too hot, the charging light never reaches full charge even after 7 hours, one fully discharged battery chargers in 2 hours where it should be 4 while in the remaining bays the batteries stay uncharged, even after fully charging some batteries show less than 4 volts. So paying more for good brands doesn't always help?

Can't find it at moment, but there is a lovely comment about fish/seagulls/desserts? Referencing batteries, in someones sig'. You must be just v' unlucky, or your electric supply is fu***d.

Someone else recently posted about these chargers, only a week or two ago & there was a vendor prosecuted for selling non compliant versions. They had fake EU stamps on them..... BRING BACK THE GOOD OLD BRITISH STANDARD I SAY !.... It was fucking reliable & we didn't need to run it by nanny McEuro first !

Glad i upgraded to the XTAR VP1 but now gotta go and check on the one gave away, know had the standard stamp on front but don't think had the one on back. TR-001 white unit and notice you say that's inc as thought only black first.

I have charger at home that I use for AA and AAA batteries ( it can take other sizes as well as 9v ) my question is, could I use it for my 18650's and 18350's? or will I have to buy another charger especially for these batteries

No. Your charger wont charge to the required voltage and will not use the correct cc/cv charging algorithm.

As I said above. For vaping, your going to be charging daily, its worth spending on a decent charger like an xtar for example. I just got an efest soda charger from torchy the battery boy and would happily recommend one, it cost thirteen quid and is as flexible as my wp2 ii

This one?

Now. Nitecore chargers.

There is a huge batch of poor i4s out there. I know because I got one. It charged a cell then electrocuted me through the negaitve leg then blew up.

They have a piss poor charging rate and the bays share a curcuit. 1 + 3 and 2 + 4 are common. If you want to charge at 675ma, use only bays 1 and 2 or 3 and 4. For charging 18350 cells, use 1 and 3 to step the current down.

Imo even if you get a good one, they are piss poor by todays standards. There are much better options available.

Xtar chargers are all highly regarded, there is a unit similar to the nitecore and the manufacturer is eluding me but its an mcc1 I believe.

I've just received an efest soda charger that is very similar to the xtar wp2 ii.

If you wish to go down the cottage industry route, there is the cotton pickers charger that will do tge 4.3v cells from lg and samsung.

There's also this resource which has far better information than I can give.
