PRODUCT RECALL! Trustfire Chargers TR-001

Ahhh.. I dont think this recall is associated with that article, unless they have shops in France? Not sure myself, but the recall was issued in France.

Sorry, I saw this linked within a UK Facebook group and assumed it may of included certain batches that were sent over here because I had to get my TR001 changed because of an incorrect label and why that company had products seized by TS due to the errors

Hello,

We have been in contact with Trustfire who have assured us that the UK plug meets all safety standards, they did show us the certificates confirming this.
The said that there had been a problem with the 2 prong plug and this has been recalled.

Again thank you for bringing this to our attention, we can confirm our Trustfire chargers are safe.

There you have it....It's the euro plug that was causing the problem....The UK version is OK....

Quotes.

The charger passed a isolation test with 2500 volt, but failed a 5000 volt test, this makes the charger acceptable for 110VAC usage, but doubtful for 230VAC usage.

"Trustfire who have assured us" Oh good, that makes it safe then!!

Mine went in the bin months ago.

I have taken some internal photos of my Trustfire TR001 and there is NO / ZERO safety fuse unlike Nitecore and Xtar chargers

The Trustfire is the first 2 pictures and the Nitecore i2 (taken from another site) is the one with the red circle showing the safety fuse

As with virtually every other perceived risk in life, the greatest arbiter for safety is one's own judgement.

If anyone has concerns about the safety of any vaping related gear, they can immediately negate those concerns by ceasing to use that gear.

Put into simple terms.. if you're worried about the safety of your charger, then don't use it.

The charger I posted a review of further back in this yhread was 13 quid, thats less than some 30ml bottles of juice, heck its the price of a pair of 18650 cells. I dont understand why people can find twenty quid for various clones or attys, but cannot find fifteen wuid or so for a half decent charger?

You could also always put a uk plug and 1a fuse on the lead of your own charger, it only has a 500ma charging rate iirc.

The most important thing about Vaping safely lies with the battery and the charger... Ill scrimp any day on a decent mod, but only tried and trust(ed) batteries and chargers for me. So going cheap and cheerful is a rule of thumb NOT to follow in this instance.

Christ - Those TR boards look horrible, cracking and dirty solders.

- the Nitecore looks like a much cleaner built unit.

My TR001 has had about 15 months of near constant use but since opening it I am shocked to see no internal safety fuse used. Yes the chargers using a UK figure 8 lead with a 3A fuse should be OK but at 500ma shouldn't need more then a 1A internal fuse.
But I do also agree the circuitry in the TR001 is dreadful and could be a lot better

Hi guys we have also been on contact with Trustfire and we have now got to the bottom of thisThe product TR01 that has the recall is for the European version with the 2 pin plug.
The UK Version is not included in the recall just as some one else has mentioned so we have now re-instated several products :)

We are also currently communicating with our supplier regarding this.

We also opened one up, but for some reason ours looks slightly different inside and has a fuse (circled in red)

The Recall also seems to state that 'The product does not comply with the Low Voltage Directive and the relevant European standard EN 60335.'.
The CE Certificate we have does seem to suggest that the charger has passed the EN 60335 standard.

Bit confusing at the moment and waiting to get clarification over this.

Will update when I have this,
Phil
