What's new

Raguri Rant - Sub Ohming and Newbies.

Quite frankly, I DON'T CARE!!
Folks that are considering, or have already considered, switching to vaping as an alternative to smoking, will, more than likely, travel the road that most of us have travelled.
Folks that are jumping onto the "Fad" aka "look at my big clouds", for no other reason than they want to be in the new club, deserve everything that their bandwagonesque compulsions throw at them.
Whilst I fully understand and sympathise with your rant Raguri I am fresh out of "get well soon" cards for the foolhardy.
By "foolhardy" I don't mean those that haven't researched sub ohming, I mean "foolhardy" in respect of those that probably are unable to spell B a t t e r y let alone know what way round they go in a device.
A Kanger subtank is way cheaper than a gigantic set of bass speakers and a super subwoofer for your 1998 Peugot 306 (red) and will impress your friends just as much.

The bottom line is that, despite a few "accidents" on the way, there will be far more subtanks sitting unused in desk drawers, than folks with only three fingers and a prosthetic nose.

I'm watching VTTV. Dave Dorn is using a device that goes up to 120W with some new clearomiser tank...didn't get the name...that can apparently handling it. the point is being discussed there. Not for beginners. In the wrong hands..etc

All the hours I've spent mastering coils, learning battery safety, learning ohms law. And now people can just buy an atlantis. But then they stick that atlantis on stupid shit, I'm with you on this one mate.

That said, if like mark said warnings were in place etc then maybe we wouldn't see such utter fuck wittery lol

Plus noob vapours parading round blowing clouds gonna get old really quick and will get the antis up in arms .I'm all for peace and quiet and vape out of others way .seems clouding and sub ohming is de rigeur .let's hope its just a fad and will fizzle out

18650s could use both fine :) I use them in tubes!

It's tempting, even if it's just on here.
ModTeam, how does one become a Ranter?

What you mean Sam "become a ranter" ? You are our resident ranter .you just need it made official ;)

Raguri - To become an Official ranter you will need the following

Straggly Beard
Mad Swivelling eyes
Hand lettered cardboard signs
Zero personal hygiene
A bottle of super strong chemical based cider.

Once you have these all you need is a handy street corner.

Right then, this is a topic that I keep seeing, and I did say a while ago I would voice my opinions on this matter.

Sub Ohming... And Newbies.

Recently, we have seen a massive influx of products designed specifically for sub ohming at a relatively inexpensive price. Things such as the Joyetech Ego One, the Aspire CF SubOhm, the Eleaf series, etc etc.

Now, as you will probably know, I am a sub ohmer. I like it, I push the limits of stuff, and I enjoy it.
BUT
I have the knowledge to do it safely. Sure, I build stupid stuff for the hell of it, but, I know the risks, i know what could go wrong, and I know what happens when it does...

So, where is this going exactly?
To here.
I fucking hate this new sub ohm market. New vapers should not have these things available to them in my opinion. Hopefully I will find people here who agree.
Sub ohming can be really, really dangerous. I have seen three posts on various facebook groups in less than two days asking "Are these batteries safe as they got warm?" or "I've taken these out of my laptop and I've already used them and they work but are they safe?"
Sure, this isn't exactly a rip on the battery side of things, BUT there's always a fucking subtank or atlantis ontop of whatever they are asking about.

These products have normalised sub ohming.

I hate that.

Sub ohming used to be about having a decent amount of skill, and being able to build something YOU were proud of. These new clearos are just making people think it's normal. Hell, I even saw a post about a guy who bought an ego one and tank AS HIS FIRST SETUP and didn't know it had to be charged before using it...

I'm sorry, but to me that's bloody worrying!

/Rant

Sod it. I'll add a bit more.

DEAR WORLD, DO NOT BUY A BLOODY MECH AND A DRIPPER AS YOUR FIRST SETUP EITHER!
If you do, learn everything first. I am amazed at how many times I've seen "How many wraps of x wire to be safe?"
Ie, They don't own an ohm reader, have no idea about their batteries limitations, etc etc.

DO NOT USE ICR BATTERIES
Simple really, DONT FUCKING USE THEM! If you want to know why, look up an ICR short. It's nasty.

DO ASK QUESTIONS! BEFORE BUYING SOMETHING THAT EVERYONE ELSE HAS EVEN THOUGH THEY'VE BEEN VAPING FOR MUCH, MUCH, MUCH LONGER THAN YOU!

And last but not least... For now.

DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT RISK IT.
I've had batteries enter thermal runaway on me, it is not fun, and it makes your mind so full of scenarios, you end up just holding the bloody thing.
anyone who thinks they will instantly throw it, you're wrong. You don't. You stand there like a rabbit in headlights going "Heeeeerp deeeerp What do I want for Dinner?... Oh yeah... I have that in the freezer... Why is my hand hot?"...

You ripped the words right outta me and splattered them on this page. Nice one! I wouldn't have posted this myself as I still consider myself a newbie so ppl might be like wtf do you think you are, but in a way I have done so in my forum posts which I get the feeling some find totally boring and a bit too techie, but tbh they really really matter to me, and I like to hope others give a shit also. I've even been told here to 'keep my posts short' in case people lose interest. I never listened to that advice though, lol. When it comes to battery safety and knowing what I'm doing I'll make my post as long as I bloody well see fit.

Thanks.

And when these fuckwit clouders realise how much juice they are rinsing daily with these juice guzzlers .they will soon cool their spurs
