rethinking flavour

If a concentrate needs sweetening - they have not got it right in the first place - sweeteners are fine as part of the original concentrates flavour makeup
Woah there steady on master zt sunni jim wait while i plug my bum cheeks, bare with me, wait the hell what? Maybe one shots but single flavours?
There aren't many out there that will stand alone as im sure you will attest to so a combination of flavours with the right ballance is the way forward.

you misunderstand me

What im saying is if hypothetically you buy the fictional "TDA - Milk Chocolate" and you find it needs sweetener .. surely it wasn't sweet enough to start with .. considering its a milk chocolate

if that was me .. I would be looking for the most perfect milk chocolate I could find (which likely still won't be good enough on its own) rather than banging a load of sweetener in one thats not up to scratch

Ive tasted a large amount of juices of which the only reason they are passable to most is they are very sweet
taken without the sweetener they would be crap - largely I suspect because rather than hunt around for the most perfect rendition of whatever flavour is being looked for ... they have gone "strawberry that will do - bang some sweetener in"

it one of the reasons actually working with development on flavours with a flavour house is so rewarding - we can get them to tweak the concentrates before we even start using them.

I also agree that a lot of single flavours don't stand alone but some of them do. I do realise that you're saying not many of them do though, For instance at the moment I'm loving the Molinberry Funky Pineapple on it's own. It's like the juice out of a tin of pineapple for me. The attempts I've made to layer it with other pineapples have all been failures so I'm just sticking with it as a single flavour for now till I can think of other, different, flavours that would go well with it.

And back to your other point about the hardware. I think the prevelance of mesh prebuilt coils has definitely impacted the amounts of concentrate I use in my juices. A lot of the things I get through to review use mesh pre built and the juice I use in my RTAs and RDAs has definitely had to be adjusted for these coils and devices.

Hmm, so people who detest or merely dislike sweeteners are getting them anyway, but obviously adding a sweetener on top is like throwing fuel on the fire. Commercially produced liquid, based on many juices I've tried, seems to be loaded with sweeteners, hence to me, my 0.50% super sweet seems quite minimal in comparison.

Edit; keep getting ninja'd but leaving the comment as is.

Yes and isn't this where the whole mixing problem/experience/skill set lays?
Flavours don't need to be sweet as such just true to form.
If i found a flavour like chocolate for instance that was described as milly/creamy/dark/indulgent with the right amount of sweetness I'd probably cream my pants if i was looking for just that but who wants to vape just that?

Funky pineapple?
Is it pineapple or is there something funky about it?
The fact youve been looking to pair it with another pineapple suggests its not good enough on its own no?
The second part :2thumbsup:

I'm 46.
I know people much younger than me.
Some of them like some pretty nasty juice in my eyes.
Maybe sweets of today are nothing like sweets of yesteryear?
Thats what i tell myself anyway.

You've edited and i agree with the edit and wish i had the same amount of sway.

I think it's been my inexperience of mixing that's led me to try to layer it tbh. I'm just used to layering strawberry and respberry etc it's the first move I go to. I've realised it is just right on it's own so am just leaving it solo. Still trying to find other fruits to go with it for a more complex mix, raspberry's out for now, unless I just try one rather than the go to layering. Oh, you know, I might have cracked it. This IS a useful thread.

As for the pineapple, there's nothing particularly funky other than it's like the sweet syrupy juice out of a tin of pineapple rings.

Pick up CCW rasberry if you want a standalone.
I get it!
