What's new

Setting up a vape shop, got a question for you guys.

-Get a decent window cleaner. (I'm serious, a VG slimed window really puts me off and walk past)

-Keep customers engaged, ask feedback. They feel appreciated, it helps the shop grow.

-Loyalty card style system.

-Social Media / Facebook / Twitter / Instagram

-Stock the cheaper 3 for £10 10mls aswell as the high VG low Nic.

-Cater for starters and advanced hardware wise.

-Keep customers informed.

-Find a niche way to stand out.

-Be friendly & relaxed.

-Clean environment without being clinical, it needs character.

-Look at an alcohol license, if you are so inclined. Customers love to chill and vape with a beer. Keeps customers in the shop, good for business & great for vape meets.

-Have some mahoosive danglies to make the jump in, especially with the TRPR coming. (Previously known as the TPD)

Loyalty system will be in place, we already have a PoS system for that which we deal with in one of the other businesses :) Also, funny you say about the alcohol licence, this idea was actually brought up not too long ago! Anyone else have thoughts about alcohol licence? Does seem quite good.. The only problem is, although it would be great to have people in the shop I don't want people to think it's a place they can just walk in and sit down and not buy anything and leave a few hours later if you know what I mean lol. Nothing against the social side, I am totally with that idea actually but at the end of the day it is a business and we need to make some money :)

To be honest though, if I knew a shop a good few miles away had a beer licence and a 'chill' area, I would 100% go there to buy my goods over my other locals which are closer and an in and out type of thing.

Would you walk into a vape store that has alcohol and not buy a pint? [emoji12]

Also someone walks into a shop with staff greeting them, they feel obliged to buy something :)

I think the temptation would be a little too much for me there :P

Thank you for the input, will seriously take a look at that :)

South Wales area mate in the valleys, for people who might be on here from this area, it is not far from Blackwood. If anyone is familiar with this place I am happy to say where exactly is the unit

I'm in Hengoed, where to are you opening, could be well handy for me [emoji1303]

Id be sure to have a look of and when you open.i live in cardiff but we have maintenance jobs up blackwood way, have you been in zapp e cigs in roath ? i find there store to be very good, i buy some stuff online but also from there ,i will make specific visits but parking is crap really and road is a nitemare in the afternoon, in saying that i will still make the effort as all the bara cuda and other shops in s wales are utter crap . the staff are friendly and remember a face, which is important, they do the loyalty scheme , stock advanced and beginner, can try before you buy, knowledgable staff (not all), and also do good offers, some prices are a lot higher than online but you pay for a service i suppose

As your business would be new i would start off in town so that you can build up a reputation then consider moving out as your regulars would appreciate the free parking. If you go out of town your expecting new customers to come to a shop theyre unfamiliar with and with no reputation to drive to you which could be inconvenience. Whereas if your in town they're more likely to check out your shop as theyre already in town.

We run a vape shop on the outskirts of Skipton high st. We're not high volume but we have loyal customers who come in based on a good selection of gear and liquids, and most importantly our staff are clued up.

If you have good staff, a good selection and parking then it will work. It won't be a get rich quick scheme, but its sustainable.

Good luck and if you want to ask me any questions then I'm an open book.

I know what you mean, and it is easy to say exactly what you are saying but for example if we go in to town you are looking at roughly £50,000 rent per year which is just under £960 a week. As we already renting 3 units just out of town we have said if we go ahead with it we will do it dirt cheap at £100 per week as currently it's going to waste anyway. Plus for £100 a week for the location I really don't think its that bad! I am just tore between the 2 as its really blowing my mind at the moment :(
